L is back with another book post after 1 year! This post is about the most popular book/book series on Amazon and about the Summer Reading Challenge at your local library until the 13th September 2025. Also, it is time I update you all on what I have read since January. (Find links for the books at the end )

Most Popular Children’s book/book series on Amazon

Superworm is the most popular children’s book on Amazon, and it is about this: The hero who’s super long, super strong, and always ready to save the day! It’s Superworm! This book tells the fun and adventurous story of a lovable worm with extraordinary abilities. With catchy rhymes, vibrant illustrations, and a positive message about friendship and bravery. (Last time it was The Tiger That Came For Tea)

The most popular book series is Harry Potter, and this is what it is about: The books follow the adventures of young wizard Harry Potter and his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Each book corresponds to one year the trio attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. With the understanding that the later books in the series become more complex and darker. While the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, is often suggested for ages 9+.

Summer Reading Challenge

The Summer Reading Challenge 2025’s theme is Story Garden. Children aged 4-11 can sign up for free and participate by reading six books of their choice. The challenge encourages reading for pleasure and promotes literacy over the summer holidays. Participants can collect stickers and rewards, and those who complete the challenge receive a medal and certificate. It ends on the 13th September. You can read your own books on the BorrowBox app/books you borrow on your library account. This year’s theme, Story Garden – Adventures in Nature and the Great Outdoors, encourages children to explore the magical connection between storytelling and nature. You need a library card to sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge.

What have I read?

I have started to read the Dork Diaries series and I am loving it so much! The 2nd book (Dork Diaries Party time) has been my favourite so far. This is what it is about: Nikki is finally adjusting to life at her new school: she’s made some real friends and her major crush, Brandon, has even asked to be her science partner! But when Nikki overhears mean girl Mackenzie bragging about going to the Halloween dance with Brandon, she’s gutted and decides to go to her little sister’s party instead. Then she discovers Mackenzie was lying. Could her dream of going to the party with Brandon still come true? I have read 4 books from this series. Dotty Detective is another series that I have read all the books from.

What am I reading?

I am reading Dear Dork, which is book 5 of the Dork Diaries series. I love the book so far. I am also reading The Butterfly Girls by Jaqueline Wilson. I am also reading Dork Diaries TV Star*, which is Book 6 of the Dork Diaries series. Here is what they are about:

What am I reading next?

I’m going to read Dork Diaries Once Upon A Dork next, after TV Star, because it is the next book in the Dork Diaries series. Then all the books in the rest of the series in order till the end. you can buy the Dork Diaries series
