Today we are back with another kid’s book review. This time it’s a wonderful book called *Egypt’s Best Embalmer by Cat Barker. At school, I loved learning all about the Egyptians it was such a fascinating topic, and I want to share their stories with L. She’s such a little sponge at the moment learning about everything around her, and asking 20 million questions a day. Why is her favourite word I’m sure!

Book Description

In ancient Egypt where the sun shines bright, The Embalmer was in for a terrible fright. To embalm a Pharaoh was a mighty honour, If he got it wrong he would be a goner! But first he must cross the river Nile, And avoid the humungous crocodile…

What We Thought

A fantastic illustrated children’s book. L loves the pictures, they make a great conversation on Egypt. I think most kids love learning about Ancient Egypt, it’s just so special. L has been learning the days of the week at the moment so she was so happy she could tie this in with Egypt’s Best Embalmer. You will know what I mean if you read the book!

It’s highly engaging with catchy rhyme, and some repetitiveness which is great for learning. L was excited to learn a new word “humungous” and other words like cunning and of course embalming. We have picked it up and read it many times since it arrived. I can see it being a firm favourite for a while.
