Today I’m happy to say it’s my turn on the blog tour for Nadine Dorries Christmas Angels. As you know from my previous posts I’m a huge fan of Nadine Dorries and her Lovely Lane series.
You can catch up here with my reviews of The Children of Lovely Lane and The Mother’s of Lovely Lane.
Book Description
The nurses of Lovely Lane face Christmas dramas at the busiest time of the St Angelus year.
Christmas may be the season of goodwill, festive cheer and family cheer for some – but not for the poor of 1950s Liverpool. And for St Angelus Hospital in Lovely Lane, it is frantically busy. There are the old, the dying, the children –and the emergencies. The nurses, known locally as the Angels of Lovely Lane, are run off their feet. Dana, Beth, Pammy and Victoria hardly have time to catch their breath, let alone have a Christmas of their own.
Gripping, gritty, moving, and often humorous too, this is vintage Nadine, a story from the heart of a writer who knows exactly what it is like to be a nurse in a big hospital at Christmas.
My Review
I adore the Lovely Lane series and Christmas Angels may be the best yet. It is one of the Lovely Lane series but you can read it alone. The setting is in the 1950’s Liverpool, all the nurses have as much fun as they can while they are hard at work.
It’s a great read for this festive time of year. Some parts will bring a tear to the eye. Others will have you laughing. It’s a real down to earth book that gives you a vision as to what it was like in 1950’s Liverpool with the Docks and surrounding community.
A great comfort read for those dark Winter evenings.
I have given Christmas Angels 5 out of 5 stars.
