If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll know I’ve been fascinated with red light therapy and skincare devices ever since I first tried the CurrentBody LED Red Light Therapy Mask Series 1. A couple of years ago, I shared a full review on whether it was worth the hype (you can catch up here). Fast forward to 2025, and I’ve now spent a few weeks testing out the new Series 2 version of their popular LED device.

In this review, I’ll be completely honest about my experience – the good, the not-so-good, and if this new mask is really an upgrade worth investing in. I’ll compare the Series 2 to the original, break down the science behind red light wavelengths, and share what results I actually saw with consistent use.

So, if you’ve been wondering whether the new CurrentBody LED Red Light Therapy Face Mask Series 2 deserves a place in your skincare routine, keep reading!
What is the CurrentBody LED Red Light Therapy Face Mask?
In case you’re new to LED therapy, the CurrentBody mask is a wearable skincare device that uses light-emitting diodes (LED lights) to boost your skin health. Unlike topical skincare products that only work on the surface, this device penetrates deeper into the skin to stimulate collagen production, improve skin tone, and reduce the appearance of fine lines.

The idea is simple: you wear the flexible silicone mask over your face for a 10-minute treatment, and the mask’s red light wavelengths and new deep near-infrared light get to work. With consistent use over weeks of use (and ideally, months of use), you can expect visible improvements in skin brightness, skin elasticity, and overall skin texture.
It’s marketed as one of the best LED masks available today, with celebrity fans like Renée Zellweger and Halle Berry reportedly using CurrentBody devices. But is it really that effective in everyday life?
So What’s New in the Series 2 Mask?
When I first tried the Series 1, I was impressed by the ease of use and the results after a few weeks. However, Series 2 introduces several upgrades that make it worth discussing:

- New Deep Near-Infrared Technology – This is probably the biggest update. The addition of deep near-infrared light means the mask can now penetrate deeper into the skin, targeting not just the surface but also areas where skin cells are renewing. This promises better results in terms of skin firmness and reducing fine lines.
- Most Precise LEDs Power – The light distribution is said to be more even and powerful compared to the Series 1.
- Eye Inserts & Adjustable Straps – These small changes make the mask more comfortable to wear. The eye inserts help protect sensitive areas, while the extra chin/head strap and adjustable straps for around the ears keep it snug around the face.
- NFC Card & User Manual Improvements – The new mask comes with an NFC card for quick access to tutorials and data about your mask. Like when it was made, and details on how it’s been through the testing system.
- Neck Kit & Décolletage Mask Compatibility – You can now pair the mask with add-ons like the neck kit and décollatage mask for a more complete treatment that covers beyond just the face.

What’s in the Box?
When you purchase the CurrentBody Skin LED Red Light Therapy Face Mask Series 2, here’s exactly what you’ll find in the box:

- LED Red Light Therapy Face Mask (Series 2) – the main flexible silicone mask, featuring 236 LEDs across three clinically proven wavelengths (633 nm red, 830 nm near-infrared, and new 1072 nm deep near-infrared) for advanced anti-ageing benefits.
- Storage Bag – a convenient pouch to keep your mask protected and ready for travel.
- USB-C Charging Cable – for quick and easy charging, ensuring your mask is powered and ready for the standard 10-minute treatment sessions.
- Controller – a handy clip-on controller to power, control, and time each session with ease.
- Eye Inserts – soft inserts for the eye area, allowing you to either relax or stay screen-active (reading or scrolling) during your treatment. I love these – you can’t see the red lights at all while wearing.
- Adjustable Straps – 3 Velcro straps included for easy adjustment around the top of the head, ear area and chin.
- User Manual – clear instructions on how to operate the device, perform a sensitivity test, and make the most of the treatment.
- NFC Card – The Current Body NFC card that comes with the LED face mask and gives you extra peace of mind about your device. By tapping the card with your smartphone, you can see detailed information about how your mask was made and tested. It’s a simple way to check the mask’s quality, traceability, and performance, so you know you’re getting consistent and effective anti-ageing results.

What’s Included in Other Series 2 Bundles
- Face & Neck Kit (Series 2) – includes everything listed above, plus:
- Neck & Décolletage Mask (Series 2)
- Two extra multi-strap attachments
- NFC Card for Veritace® quality verification
- Special LED Red Light Kit – includes the standard Series 2 mask kit, plus:
- A 5-pack of CurrentBody Skin Hydrogel Face Masks
- A 30 mL bottle of CurrentBody Skin Green Tea Serum. Perfect for layering post-treatment to boost collagen production, plumpness, and enhance that glow.
How Easy Is It To Use?
Like the first version, the Series 2 mask is extremely simple to integrate into your daily routine. The treatment is still just 10 minutes long, making it easy to fit in as the first thing in the morning or as an additional step at night before bed.
Here’s my process:
- Cleanse my skin (I avoid heavy petroleum products, antibacterial soaps, or anything that might interfere with light penetration).
- Run a quick sensitivity test when trying the device for the first time.
- Strap on the flexible material mask with the chin strap and adjustable straps.
- Relax for 10 minutes while the LED bulbs (red + near-infrared) do their thing.
- Apply the CurrentBody Skin Green Tea Serum afterwards for a boosted glow.
The flexible silicone mask fits better this time, thanks to those small design tweaks.
My Results After 2 Weeks of Use
Now for the real question: Did I notice visible results using the LED light therapy face mask?

After around two weeks of regular use, here’s what I saw:
- Skin Texture & Brightness: My skin definitely looked smoother and had more brightness. I even had a few compliments on my brighter complexion without makeup.
- Fine Lines: The appearance of fine lines on my forehead softened slightly. They weren’t gone (let’s be realistic!), but the difference was noticeable to me.
- Firmness & Elasticity: I did feel a small improvement in skin firmness and elasticity, particularly around the cheeks.
- Tone & Evenness: My skin tone looked more even, with less dullness.
*(Please ignore the cold sore on my lip in the after image!)
Compared to Series 1, the Series 2 seems to deliver better results when it comes to deeper skin rejuvenation. That’s likely due to the deep near-infrared light.
I will update you after six weeks of regular use!

- Quick treatments (10 minutes).
- Noticeable improvements with consistent use.
- New deep near-infrared technology provides stronger results than Series 1.
- Flexible silicone mask is comfortable and lightweight.
- Eye inserts & chin strap make it easier to wear.
- Can be paired with neck kit or décollatage mask.
- Backed by a money back guarantee, full refund, and years warranty.
- Works as part of a wellness journey alongside other qualified wellness products.
Negatives of the CurrentBody LED Mask Series 2
- Extra cost compared to Series 1 – the upgrades don’t come cheap.
- Results require regular use over months of use – not an instant fix.
- Not suitable for pregnant women, those with lupus erythematosus, or anyone on certain medications (common side effect of various medications like photosensitivity).
- The mask still only covers the face – full body coverage would require additional specialized products.
- You need patience – this isn’t a one-and-done device.
Series 1 vs. Series 2 – Which Red Light Mask Should You Buy?
If you already own the Series 1, you might be wondering whether it’s worth upgrading. Here’s my honest take:
- If you’re happy with the results from Series 1 and only use it occasionally, stick with it.
- If you want faster, deeper results, or if you’re serious about anti-aging, Series 2 is worth the investment.
- For those just starting their LED light therapy mask journey, the Series 2 is a better option, simply because it uses the most precise LEDs power and adds near-infrared for improved results.
Practical Things to Know

- Longevity: With light-emitting diodes designed to last years, this mask is an investment, not a short-term gadget.
Final Verdict – Is the Series 2 Worth It?
So, after a few weeks of testing, would I recommend the CurrentBody LED Red Light Therapy Face Mask Series 2?
Yes – but with realistic expectations.
This is one of the best LED masks on the market. The new series does improve on the original with deep near-infrared technology, better fit, and visible results. If you want to invest in your skin cells’ long-term health, improve skin tone, and enjoy a little luxury in your skincare routine, it’s a fantastic option.
That said, it’s not a miracle fix. You’ll need consistent use, patience, and a willingness to commit to your daily routine. And if you already own the Series 1, the upgrade may only be worth it if you’re chasing better results.
At the end of the day, it’s a high-quality, specialised product that feels like part of a wider wellness journey. For me, it’s been a positive addition to my routine, and I’ll continue using it alongside my favourite skincare products!
