If you’ve got a PAW Patrol fan in the house, you’ll know the excitement levels go through the roof the second Ryder and the pups appear on screen. So when PAW Patrol: Dino World landed on our Nintendo Switch, it was instantly met with that “can we play it NOW?!” energy from my eldest! She was (and still is!) a huge Everest fan when she was younger!
To be honest? It’s exactly what you’d hope for from a PAW Patrol game. Bright, colourful, full of familiar character voices, and it’s really approachable for younger children who are just starting to get into gaming. It’s not the most challenging game in the world (more on that below), but for little players and PAW Patrol lovers, it’s a lovely, confidence-boosting adventure.
Also, this game does have a photosensitivity warning for all those photosensitive pups.
A Dino Island story packed with rescues and surprises
Outright Games, in collaboration with Nickelodeon, has created a brand-new 3D adventure set in the PAW Patrol universe, taking place in the same prehistoric world as the upcoming theatrical release of PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie.
The story is set on Dino Island, where things have gone a bit… chaotic. Mayor Humdinger is up to his typical tricks, dinosaurs are disappearing, and trouble is extending across the island. It’s up to Ryder and the pups (plus some prehistoric friends!) to uncover what’s going on, restore order, and prove once again that:
No dino is too big, and no pup is too small.
It’s a fun setup that feels very “PAW Patrol”, and it gives the game a clear feeling of purpose as you move through different areas and missions.
Explore four vibrant regions of Dino Island
One of the nicest parts of Dino World is the setting. You get to explore four different regions, and each one feels distinct and exciting for younger kids:
- The Shore
- The Jungle
- Dino Plains
- The Volcano
Each area is filled with rescue missions, environmental puzzles, mini-games, and hidden collectibles, which helps keep things going along without feeling too repetitive.
Visually, it’s exactly what you’d want for this age group: colourful, cheerful, and easy to follow, with plenty happening on screen without it being overwhelming.
Play as all six pups (and switch whenever you like)
This is a big win if your child has a favourite pup (because let’s be honest… they all do).
You can step into the paws of all six playable pups:
- Chase
- Marshall
- Skye
- Zuma
- Rubble
- Rocky
Each pup has their own special talents and signature vehicles, and you can switch between them as you explore, solve problems, and complete rescues. It’s a really nice way to keep kids engaged, because they feel like they’re getting variety and choice, rather than being stuck as one character the whole time. Rex is another pup that is featured, but you can’t play as him because he is not one of the main 6 pups, and he helps set your activities up and guides you along with Heidi and Euginia at the main base!
Made for young players (and it shows)
This is where Dino World really shines… and also where it might not be for everyone.
Our thoughts after playing: it’s great for young children getting into games, and it’s perfect for PAW Patrol lovers. The controls and gameplay are created to be accessible, and it feels like a gentle introduction to exploration-style games.
However, if you’ve got older kids who are used to more complex games, they might find it a little simple, and there aren’t loads of challenging features to keep them hooked long-term.
So I’d say it’s ideal for:
- younger children who want a game they can play confidently
- kids who love PAW Patrol and want to explore that world
- families who want something light and fun (without frustration!)
Local two-player co-op for family play
Another feature I really like is that PAW Patrol: Dino World can be played solo or in local two-player co-op.
For families, this is such a nice option. It encourages teamwork, taking turns, helping each other out, and it makes it easy for a parent or sibling to jump in and play along without it becoming stressful or too competitive.
Collect pup treats and unlock customisation
If your child loves collecting things in games, this part will definitely appeal.
As you explore Dino Island, you can find hidden treasure chests and collect pup treats, which unlock:
- new accessories for the pups
- vehicle customisation
- fun cosmetic items to decorate dinosaur friends
It’s a simple system, but it gives kids that rewarding “I found something!” feeling, and it encourages them to investigate every corner of the map.
Final thoughts: a fun, friendly PAW Patrol game for little gamers
Overall, PAW Patrol: Dino World is a lovely choice for younger Switch players. It’s bright, colourful, easy to pick up, and the character voices add so much to the experience (it really helps it feel like you’re inside an episode).
It’s not the most challenging game, so older kids might move on quickly, but for little ones who are just getting into gaming, it’s a great confidence builder and a really fun PAW Patrol adventure!

PAW Patrol: Dino World is available now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and will also be available worldwide on the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 2, 2026.
