We have been thinking for a while about getting a video doorbell. I always seem to be on the school run when a delivery arrives and miss it! Also when we go away a video doorbell would give peace of mind if we could speak to delivery drivers and get them to leave our parcels in a safe place, and we can see if anybody enters our front garden. So for us, a video doorbell would benefit greatly. With this in mind, we were kindly given the chance to review the *EZVIZ DB2 Battery-powered Doorbell.

The brand behind the DB2 battery-powered doorbell is EZVIZ. They are an expert in smart home security with their range not only including the DB2 but also the *EZVIZ C8C Outdoor Security Cam and the *EZVIZ C6 AI smart camera for indoors as well as many more products.
Installing The DB2 Battery-powered Doorbell
The DB2 is completely wire-free in design with an embedded rechargeable battery, it is easy to install, and also features a handful of pro features to make front-door security easy. We live in a new build, so the outside walls can be tricky to drill into without cracking the plaster, so we decided to put the DB2 on the door. Now we also didn’t want to invalidate our doors warranty by screwing it on there, so we went for using the strong sticky patch included to stick the DB2 base on the door. I was dubious that it would be strong enough in the long run, but so far it’s perfect. You do get all the bits and pieces included to install the doorbell if you go down the screw to the wall route. A great tamper feature is that if anyone lifts the doorbell off the base a loud piercing alarm sounds as a deterrent and a mobile alert reaches the owner. The DB2 prohibits unauthorized use after the theft, thanks to the account binding restriction!
It does recommend a professional to install if you are not confident in knowing what you are doing.
Steps to install the battery doorbell kit
Step 1: Pair the Doorbell and Chime:
Press the power button behind the doorbell for 1 second to initiate the process. Plug in the chime no more than 5 metres from the doorbell and scan the QR code on the top of the chime with the EZVIZ app. Then follow the steps to finish the configuration.
Step 2: Select and install the mounting plate.
Step 3: Install the doorbell.
Step 4: Test the product and demonstrate product functionality.
There are wires and connectors included if you wish to wire in the DB2.
Battery Power
This wireless and wire-free doorbell is fully battery-powered and can be set up anywhere in minutes. The DB2 Pro can run up to 115 days on one full charge, which is maximized by its emerging-saving mode. Included in the box is a USB cable to charge your DB2. It has been installed for 10 days so far and it has used 5% battery charge. This is good for us as it records your comings and goings as well as deliveries and friends coming to the door!

The app is readily available to download from the App Store or Google Play free of charge to your smartphone. It’s an easy-to-use app and notifies you when someone is at the door. An instant video call will be initiated to your phone, so users can see and talk through the EZVIZ app to let friends know if it’s a good time to visit or tell the postman to place parcels in a preferred spot. Video storage is made safe and flexible to make sure the doorbell captures and preserves every key moment. The DB2 Pro supports local storage through a *large microSD card of up to 256 GB, which can be inserted onto the indoor chime for enhanced data protection. EZVIZ also supports encrypted cloud storage upon subscription.

We are extremely happy with the EZVIZ DB2 Battery-powered Doorbell. It was easy to install, easy to set up with the app and the video quality is AMAZING!
