Today see’s the start of British Science Week, so a perfect opportunity to get involved with lots of fun activities. This year’s theme for the 2020 poster competition is ‘Our diverse planet. I think we will give that one a go!
I love Science. It was my favourite subject at school and I went on to do A-Levels in Biology Chemistry and Physics. Now L is getting older and asking a million questions a day on how things work, why are they like that, etc I can’t wait to share the Science world around us with her.

Tobbie is the cutest self-guiding Artificial Intelligence Robot we have ever seen. Build Tobbie yourself from push-out plastic pieces, he has 2 modes: ‘Follow me’ where he will follow anything moving (your hand or another Tobbie) and ‘Explore’ where he uses his IR sensor to avoid obstacles. He has lights and sounds as expected from a robot and walks on 6 legs.
He is a self-assembly kit made up of 107 push out and assemble pieces. You will need a good pair of cutters and a filer so that the bits assemble neatly but follow the instructions and you will build a fully working intelligent robot.
Millions of tin cans are being wasted daily. Help recycle one of them and turn into a cool robot that walks in a silly way when it is turned on. It contains a set of plastic mechanical body parts, the motor with electric wires, 1 pair of moving eyes, screws and detailed instructions. Recycled drinks can is needed to complete the project.

I think it’s brilliant that they are trying to get children excited about science. At Daisy’s school next week they have a dress up day where they have to go as a mad scientist. I was extremely tempted by the idea of dressing her in a white jumpsuit and facemask with ‘warning live corona virus’ on it….but I didn’t think the teachers would appreciate it!
