The Art Of Starting Your Family Morning Off Right

Any post that seems to dictate how you should start your morning is going to be a post open for criticism – no matter how much talk of “balance” and “greeting the day at your own pace” there is. After all, it doesn’t prevent that super messy and sometimes chaotic morning school run, the fact that pulling yourself out of bed on a winter’s morning can feel more difficult than solving advanced algebraic equations, nor the fact that sometimes, you’re just too tired and need time to come to the human race after waking up.

The Art Of Starting Your Family Morning Off Right

The idea that every stable family is going to wake up in the meditative lotus pose, have the time to read a full book before breakfast, and only eat the most beautiful, organic food to get started is just a pipe dream, unless you’re very wealthy and have no responsibilities of course.

But are there ways to start your morning off a little more comfortably, even with a great amount on the agenda? It’s worth asking the question. In this post, we’ll discuss a few means of starting your family morning off right:

Have A Solid Bathroom Sharing Plan

Having a set schedule—like who gets to shower first or who’s in charge of brushing their teeth in the kitchen if it comes to that can prevent some of the morning chaos. Even just reminding everyone the night before to keep their showers quick or to grab what they need before the rush can help you come to some kind of routine where everyone is, mostly, prepared to leave by a certain time. If worse comes to worst, there’s no shame in setting up a mirror in another room or having someone wake up a touch earlier.

Have The Self-Serve Food & Tea Out On The Table

There’s a great deal of time saved if you have everything for your family to eat and refresh themselves in the morning without skipping breakfast. Placing comforts like cereal, fruit, toast, and drinks ready is easy to do if you immediately put it on or just place the raw elements out on the table, so everyone can help themselves.

If you’re a tea or coffee person, having your cup prepped and ready to go is a little life hack you’ll thank yourself for, or having a water heater/coffee machine that turns itself on and brews a pot at a certain time can be a nice investment  This way everything you need is just ready, and you can focus on the cleanup after the school run or morning efforts are done. And for calmer starts (or if you’re cutting back on caffeine), a pot of smooth, family‑friendly decaf coffee keeps the ritual without the jitters, perfect for early alarms and gentler mornings.

Listen To Some Calming Music To Get Started

Mornings can feel like a race against the clock, so setting the right tone can be a huge help. You’d be surprised what a little background music, such as from a North East Radio station, can do for the vibe in the house. Instead of everyone rushing around in total chaos, you’ll have a common beat and pace. Relaxing music can be nice to greet the day with but if you prefer being a little more upbeat, that can set the march of the morning too.

Hopefully now you’ll be all set to kick off your family’s morning on the right foot!
