Health and Wellness: 3 Practices that Will Help You to Feel Better About Life

It’s estimated that the average smartphone user gets around 65 to 80 notifications per day, according to a study performed by Duke University in 2018. This is a lot of time being spent networking, no matter what you do for a living.

In the busy interconnected world that we live in, we’re constantly being bombarded by text messages, phone calls, app notifications and news media. A work life balance is hard to achieve. All of this can take its toll on the human mind, and can ultimately manifest physiologically.

Health and Wellness: 3 Practices that Will Help You to Feel Better About Life

With all of our distractions and stressors of daily living, this makes adopting a health and wellness practice essential to living a healthy life. And even if this takes up only 15 minutes of your time per day, the possibility of feeling better is well worth the time.

Here, we’ll discuss a few health and wellness practices that can increase your quality of life and your overall state of well-being.

Diet and Hygiene

The way you feel has a lot to do with the foods you eat and the products you use. And believe it or not, even those lotions that you love the smell of can be affecting your mood.

Our diets play a major role in nutritional health. And correspondingly, so do the products we put on our bodies.

For example, if you’ve ever eaten fast food over the course of a week, you might have noticed that you had much less energy than if you’d eaten a home cooked meal. This is because of the high amounts of trans fats in food along with grease and other chemical ingredients that cause more harm than you might realize.

Additionally, the products you put on your body such as oils, lotions and talcum powder can contain chemicals that are harmful and that can even cause cancer. In fact, talcum powder use has been linked to the development of ovarian cancer in women, and is now the subject of class action lawsuits.

As a solution, eating a balanced diet and only using natural hygiene products can have amazing benefits, and it just might make you feel a bit better as well.

Regular Exercise

It’s no secret that the benefits of regular exercise include feeling better mentally and physically, and this is why you need to incorporate a regular daily exercise routine.

Unless your profession requires you to get outside in the elements, or to perform intense manual labor, you’re probably living a largely sedentary lifestyle.

When you remain inactive for long periods of time, this takes its toll on your physical and mental well-being. Even a day spent inside can cause mild lethargy and depression in some cases, which is why it’s important to get moving, and add a little action to your life.

Regular exercise increases muscular health and improves circulation. It’s also known to release endorphins which are responsible for that feel good sensation you get after a nice workout. All of this combined allows you to relieve stress and boost your immune system. Just make sure you take the time out to recover after your workouts

Social Outings

Believe it or not, the amount of time we spend in social situations has a significant effect on our mental well-being. In fact, with the COVID-19 pandemic shutting the world down in 2020 and with so many people avoiding social situations, physicians began to notice an uptick in mental health issues.

We human beings are social creatures. We form groups for safety and security, and even though we’re far from Paleolithic times, we still need human contact to feel, well, human.

Having a secluded lifestyle might suit some just fine. But over time, a lack of human contact and social situations can affect your mental health and your perception of life in general. This is why you should get out of the house periodically, and enjoy the company of others.

Maintaining mental and physical health is up to you as an individual. So ensure that you’re making wise choices, and taking time to care for yourself.
