I’ve always found it hard to find a jacket that isn’t too hot or not warm enough. The weather here in Cornwall can be blustery and wet, or very warm like today! But walking to school each day, I need a jacket that can help protect me against all the elements in different seasons. This is where the new Gamma all-climate jacket comes in, and one I can’t wait to try.
The Gamma, a fantastic new Kickstarter project is the first-ever all-season, all-climate jacket. It’s infused with graphene and has built-in heaters that you can power with your power bank- imagine that in Winter! 10 storage pockets (with 2 hidden) are included as well as a standard hood, and a rain hem. It’s lightweight but still able to protect you from below-freezing to warmer temperatures. So as you can tell it will function as a Winter, coat, a lightweight jacket, windbreaker, raincoat, and ideal for leisure activities.
The innovative Gamma jacket is the latest project from techwear brand Wear Graphene. They are one of the first brands to infuse nanoparticle graphene into textiles, which means their clothes have extraordinary properties such as durability, bacteria, and weather resistance.
Graphene is such a unique and exciting material. It’s the thinnest material known to man at only 1 atom thick, and immensely strong. Did you know it is around 200 times stronger than steel? It has many unique properties including being an excellent conductor of heat. Which in turn distributes heat around the jacket keeping you warm in colder conditions. And then when it’s warm, it wicks the moisture and expels excess heat to cool you down. This means it’s great for activities such as camping, hiking, jogging, walking, and other outdoor sports.
At around only 500g in weight, it’s the perfect light-weight jacket. It’s strong enough to repel knife punctures due to the strong structure of graphene so it has the ability to withstand serious wear and tear. For hot and sunny days, the Gamma jacket is UV-proof It offers protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays and will prevent you from overheating. Graphene as a material is antimicrobial and hypoallergenic which means the Gamma will protect you from allergens and germs and be free from smelly odours.
I always like to know about a jacket if it will come out in the wash like new. I can say that Wear Graphene assures me that yes it will. Graphene’s strength means that the Gamma won’t crease, it’s also resistant to marks, scuffs and stains. Overall I think this is a superb jacket that everyone needs in their wardrobe for all seasons and occasions.
