Hunza G is a women’s fashion company that mostly specializes in swimwear. The brand originated back in the 80s and at the time it sold a similar lineup of products under the name Hunza (no G at the end). The original version of the brand was most well-known for its appearance in the 1990s movie Pretty Woman. One of the stars in the film, Julia Roberts is seen wearing one of the brand’s cut-out mini dresses. The brand has now been relaunched as a swimwear brand that makes use of the original brand’s unique fabric.

As of the time of making this article, the brand does not seem to have any official retail locations. The brand’s official website does have a page dedicated to a store locator, but the page itself is empty. This could be a sign that retail locations are coming in the future so we will have to wait and see.

Who Owns Hunza G/Who Was The Founder?
We mentioned before that the Hunza G brand started in the 1980s, to be more precise, the brand was started by Peter Meadows in 1984. There really isn’t too much information about Peter on the internet. What we do know about him is he created the brand’s signature crinkle-stretch fabric and the iconic high-cut leggy design the brand is known for today.
During Peter’s time running the company, it had a focus on producing dresses and swimwear, not unlike the company’s product line today, although dresses were much more prominent for the brand back in the 90s. In 2015, the brand was relaunched thanks to the collaborative efforts of Georgiana Huddart and Peter Meadows. Georgiana now works as the brand’s creative director.

Georgiana’s inspiration for reviving the brand was founded on her love of the brand’s fabric. She believed the fabric to be flattering, comfortable, and unique. She couldn’t understand why more people weren’t wearing or talking about it, so she took the initiative and changed that by relaunching the brand and getting this fabric out for women around the world to enjoy.
Her goal with the brand is to create swimsuits that make women feel confident about themselves and comfortable in their bodies. A couple of other goals she has is to maintain ethical production of the brand’s products and keep the brand’s British roots and heritage from being lost in the process.

How to Properly Care For Hunza G Products
Now that we’ve seen a few of the brand’s products, let’s go over some important information we think you’ll find useful when cleaning, storing, and caring for these products. Each one of the brand’s dresses and swimsuits is made using over 9 million stitches. This is what gives the products that silky smooth feel and flexibility. Products like this take lots of care and attention to manufacture and an equal amount of care and attention is needed to keep these products in their best condition.
Basic Care Information
- Be aware of chlorine: Chlorine and other oils and chemicals like it can damage the color and fabric of your swimsuit. When you’re finished swimming in a pool with chlorine in it, make sure you take the time to properly hand wash and rinse your swimsuit with cold water. For deeper cleaning use a mild detergent. We do this process to prevent the chlorine from absorbing into the material of our swimsuit which will cause the fabric to break down.
- Avoid high temperatures!: These swimsuits were made for beaches and natural bodies of water. While we can mitigate the damage caused by pools with chlorine in them we can’t mitigate the damage done by bodies of water with high temperatures. Because of this, it is highly recommended that you avoid wearing your swimsuits in jacuzzis, saunas, steam rooms, and hot springs. The high temperature of these locations will cause damage to the swimsuit’s color and fabric.
- How do you wash and dry these swimsuits?: As mentioned above in the section on avoiding chlorine, it is recommended that you hand wash and rinse these products in cold water. You should use a mild detergent when washing as harsh chemicals can damage the product’s color and fabric. When drying the swimsuit or any other Hunza products, you need to avoid using heat-based dryers. One of the materials used in the construction of these products is Elastane. Elastane is very sensitive to heat and as a result, we don’t recommend using a machine to dry these products. Air drying is the best way to go. Please avoid leaving these products in direct sunlight.
