Personal, social and health and economic education, otherwise known as PSHEE helps to give children the knowledge of how to be a valued member of society. Through real life experiences, conversations and reflections across family and relationships children will have the opportunity to understand a lot more about life.

Health and Wellbeing
This is often a part of pastoral care in a school, where children are able to explore what it means to look after their mental and physical health. It also includes teaching your child about how to manage keeping themselves safe physically and emotionally.
There is time for your child to learn a lot more about puberty, emotions and loss. It is a time where children explore their own emotions and feelings, as well as giving them the chance to manage things in their own unique ways.
Mental health, navigating the many different emotions and periods in a person’s lifetime as they grow older. It’s something that can often feel confusing to children as well, where emotions are at play a lot of the time and they can find it enlightening to have a different point of view.
Relationships
When children learn about how relationships are formed they will be able to navigate different thoughts and feelings they will come across. Behaviour is another area that children have to recognise, and will see how much it will affect other people. Children need to learn how to care and support friends and family, and cooperate with other people when needed. This also means your child has to learn how to avoid bullies, or at least how to react when they are being insulted or picked on in school.
The Wider World
This is where your child is going to have to understand what respect means and how to be responsible in front of others. They will need to learn how to respect others, as well as know how to talk to members of society, make decisions that impact others, and more.
Another area will be able to learn about cultures, languages and problems that our entire planet faces. With your child’s knowledge in equality and diversity and how to be a valuable member of a community. That alone will help your child in their understanding of how to contribute to society.
PSHEE is an essential subject for students to explore, but there will be a lot of ways to help your child leave school with a fuller awareness of the world. These kinds of lessons prepare your child for their futures, which will guide them towards what makes them who they are.
