Happy Canada Day!

5 years ago, my husband, sister and I were in Peterborough, Ontario celebrating Canada Day. It was an amazing experience to be involved with their celebrations. The whole town got together and put on various displays, with a carnival feel to it. The one thing that amazed me was that everywhere was closed! So absolutely everyone could get involved with the celebrations. This doesn’t really happen in this country, with most retail shops opening on Bank Holidays.
This blog post is for my sister, who lives in Canada – Happy Canada Day!

#MySundayPhoto 28/06/2015

Over the past few Sunday’s I have really enjoyed going back over our Canadian Holiday photo’s and picking out ones to share with you. I cannot believe it was five years ago today we drove from Cornwall up to Gatwick on the start of our holiday of a lifetime. It seems like only yesterday.
This photo was taken from the top of the CN Tower in Toronto. It was a breathtakingly hot still day with amazing weather. The city view was stunning, not something a country Cornish girl like me is used to!

Carrying on with my Canadian themed #MySundayPhoto from the previous few weeks, I wanted to show you this beautiful lift lock in Peterborough, Ontario. Peterborough is situated on the Otonabee river in cental Ontario.
We were lucky enough to travel up the lift lock on a little ferry boat, on a really gorgeous summer’s day.

While we were in Canada nearly 5 years ago, we came across a little pioneer village, that was free to enter. It made a lovely day out for us as there was lots of things to do and demonstrations to watch.
This is one of my favourite photo’s of the quaint little wooden houses that were there. It was a beautiful hot summer’s day.

My Word of the Week 12/06/2015

This Is My Word of the Week – Weather
Weather, a noun – the state of the atmosphere with respect to wind, temperature, cloudiness, moisture and pressure

I would just like to say thanks again to thereadingresidence for hosting this great Word of the Week linky. Over the past few months I have joined up numerous times and love summing up my week with just one word.
So this week I have chosen weather as my #WotW because it has been so topsy turvy this week down here in the South West. On Sunday we drove up to Teignmouth which is across the border into Devon to catch up with family. It was a gorgeous day as you can tell from the photo below. Lots of people were out and about enjoying the sun although it was a bit overcast at times. I even happened to catch the sun on my face, which will teach me a lesson about not putting on suncream, even if the weather isn’t the brightest.

Today (Friday) is a complete opposite. It has been torrential rain here today. A bit rubbish for June weather I must add! I got completely soaked walking across the car park at work getting to my car. Then as it was so hot and humid I was steaming up the car inside with my wet clothes as I was driving home.
Don’t you think that there is always more traffic and a lot more traffic queues when the weather is rubbish? I thought it was taking me forever to get home today.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and that the weather is better for you than it is down here in Cornwall. The forecast for the next few days isn’t the best down here, but at least it’s been the hottest day of the year so far today from what I gather was just on the news!
Happy Weekend!
