Our house move is less than a month away now, we are all very excited!!!! One thing we have been thinking about is about sprucing up our bedroom – New House New Bedroom right?
We recently had a gorgeous new mattress from the Memory Foam Warehouse in which we reviewed. So now we are looking for ideas on decorating our bedroom.
As you know from previous posts like when we were thinking about decorating baby girl’s bedroom, I love to create mood boards. Here is my mood board for our New House New Bedroom.
The other day I passed on my top tips for setting up and decorating a home office, but I didn’t go into much detail on furniture for your office space. I believe having good quality furniture for your office space will make it look professional especially if you have clients come to your home. For me being a blogger it’s highly unlikely, but there are professions such as accountants and advisors who may need their customers to visit them.
I have never had a home office, when my husband worked at home a few years back, he had our spare bedroom set up as an office, but you know what men are like! He had a desk and a chair. Not very inspirational at all. So when we move into our new house next month, I plan to have my own home office space.
I’m sure as you know from all my Instagram posts that we are moving house. One of the first things I want to get sorted is baby girl’s bedroom. I want the move to go as easy as possible for her without too much disruption. So I’m on the look out for soft furnishings and lights to help her ease into a new house. Of course she will have her old toys and what not around her, but I want to make her bedroom her special place.
Now that spring has arrived, we need to ensure our home reflects this. After all, springtime is all about blossoming flowers and longer days, it’s also one of the best times for your kids as they get to play outdoors. But while there are lots of updates you can do to your garden at this time of the year, you can also do some spring time changes to the inside of your home. One thing you should do is attempt to bring the outdoors inside. A sprinkle of the outdoors can give your home a fab feel.
Here are some ways you can bring the outdoors inside this spring.
Add some outdoor scents to your house
You might think candles are just for winter time. After all, there’s nothing better than cuddling up in front of a cozy fire with some great candles in winter. But actually, candles are a great house accessory for spring too. In fact, it’s an excellent way to bring a touch of outdoor magic to the inside of your home. After all, you can go for outdoor smells such as lavender or honeysuckle which will make you feel like you are in your garden. In fact, if you add one of these candles by the front door, it will give an instant fresh feel as guests enter your home. Therefore, hunt down some great candles which you can add to your home.
Did you know that new homes built today have to confine to UK building regulations? Of course we all know that they have lots of rules and regulations that they have to abide to. But recently there are sustainable code practices added conforming to energy and CO2 emissions, and these include lighting.
The building developers have to make houses as sustainable and efficient more than ever before. So one of these regulations to help this is to make sure at least 75% of lighting fittings must be low energy.
We found this our when we moved into our new build a few years back. We had mostly newer style fittings and couple of older ones. Our stylish lampshades only fitted the new ones so we had to trundle out looking for lampshades with the older style fittings.
I don’t know why they can’t just fit all of the same fittings!
Anyway I have been reading up on how you can live a greener lifestyle by using eco-friendly lighting. I want to know what we can do to our new house when we move in the Summer. Lighting is going to be key for us in the new house as it’s positioned behind an old chapel which is surrounded by trees. It is a gorgeous spot, but like I said we will need some decent lighting.
