I’ve taken a reading break over the past few weeks while we are on the summer holidays. But I’m back with a review of *The Wife Who Risked Everything by Ellie Midwood. I’ve read a few of Ellie’s books over the past couple of years. She is one of my favourite WWII historical fiction authors!

Book Description

What I Thought

The Wife Who Risked Everything is another cracker from Ellie Midwood. Heartbreaking, and totally gripping! Ellie brings the characters to life. She is very knowledgeable about this timeframe and it shows in her superb writing.

I love the fact that this book is based on a true story, it brings the brutal truth of what happened back then to a new audience.

The characters of Margot and Jochen are full of love, hope and courage. Margot a German seamstress is very brave, she will do anything and everything to protect the love of her life, Jochen who is a Jew from the Nazis.

The author is very descriptive in her writing. You can feel the atmosphere, the fear as Margot’s so-called friends avoid her in the streets, you will feel the emotions and tension as you read further along into the book.

I totally recommend this book and a well-deserved 5 stars!
