I’ve been really into my EMP and end of the world novels lately. If you check out my Goodreads feed you will see it’s how I spent most of the summer! So getting the chance to read Artificial Wisdom by Thomas R. Weaver, was right up my street. It is a thrilling murder mystery set in a futuristic world. The book forces readers to confront complex issues about our relationship with artificial intelligence and climate change.

Book Description
It’s 2050, a decade after a heatwave that killed four hundred million across the Persian Gulf, including journalist Marcus Tully’s wife. Now he must uncover the truth: was the disaster natural? Or is the weather now a weapon of genocide?
A whistleblower pulls Tully into a murder investigation at the centre of an election battle for a global dictator, with a mandate to prevent a climate apocalypse. A former US President campaigns against the first AI politician for the position, but someone is trying to sway the outcome.
Tully must convince the world to face the truth and make hard choices about the future of the species. But will humanity ultimately choose salvation over freedom, whatever the cost?
Initial thoughts
As a fan of science fiction and murder mysteries, I found Artificial Intelligence to be a fascinating, thought-provoking read. The book explores the potential consequences of our current actions and decisions and the role technology and AI could play in our future. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good page-turner and is passionate about technical and public interaction.

The Concept of Artificial Wisdom
Artificial Intelligence by Thomas R. Weaver is a thought-provoking novel that explores the concept of artificial intelligence and its impact on humanity. The story is set in the year 2050 when Earth’s climate is out of control, and millions of people have died in extreme heat waves. Protagonist Marcus Tully is an investigative journalist trying to uncover the truth behind the disaster.
The novel presents a futuristic world where AI has become an integral part of human life. They conceptualise artificial intelligence, which is the ability of AI to make decisions based on moral and ethical principles. The author raises important questions about the relationship between humans and AI and the consequences of over-reliance on technology.
The book also explores the ethical implications of creating machines that can think and act like humans. Hello Solomon! The author argues that AI can be a double-edged sword, capable of helping humanity and harming humanity.
It offers a cautionary tale about the dangers of over-reliance on technology and the need for humans to control the machines they have created.
Overall Thoughts
The book explores the relationship between humans and AI and the potential consequences of climate change. Weaver has done an excellent job of creating a plausible future world and highlighting the dangers of unchecked technological advancement. Gosh, that was a mouthful! The book is a compelling blend of science fiction and thriller genres, and the author’s writing style keeps readers engaged from start to finish. I thought it was bloody brilliant!
One of the strengths of the book, I must add is the character development. And the attention to detail. You can tell the author has done extensive research on AI and climate change, as it shows.
Another strength of the book is its ability to engage the reader. The plot is fast-paced and full of twists and turns, which keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. The characters are well-developed, and their motivations are clear, which makes it easy for the reader to empathise with them. Additionally, the book’s themes are relevant to today’s world, which makes it easy for the reader to connect with the story.
The book raises important questions about the ethics of creating intelligent machines and the consequences of doing so. The book’s portrayal of a world where humans and machines coexist is both fascinating and thought-provoking. Plus I’ve never read a book with one of the main characters as an AI figure! Genius!
