There are a lot of people who deal with regular constipation and have a hard time enjoying life as a result. The discomfort is terrible and it affects their ability to eat the foods that they want. There are many remedies to get rid of mild constipation such as drinking some strong coffee to get things moving or eating a few prunes. However, there are times when those tips don’t work.
When constipation happens frequently, or the normal remedies are not working then you have to try some different things to see if you have any luck. In this article, we will go over several ideas to help you get your movements back on track.

1 – Look at your supplements
Many people take supplements to make sure they are getting enough vitamins and minerals that they aren’t getting from their food. The problem with that is some of the supplements may be causing constipation. For instance, many women experience an iron deficiency in pregnancy and take iron supplements. Those end up causing constipation very frequently.
Other people often take iron supplements such as vegans or people with anemia. They also have a high incidence of getting constipated because of their iron intake. Take a look at your supplements and see if iron is something you are taking with your multivitamins. If so, then you may want to look into removing that supplement and getting iron some other way.
2 – Use a bidet
There are a lot of different kinds of bidets on the market that can help you with your constipation. For example, there are bidets that can be attached to your toilet and will use a jet of water to clean you up. Some of them also work great as a way to give yourself a safe enema. The seat attachment bidets can give you a jet of warm water with enough pressure to hit the bowels.
This warm water combined with the massaging effect of the jet of water will help relax the muscles and start the process of moving the bowels. It’s much safer to use a bidet for an enema since it doesn’t involve using a hard, plastic tip to insert and risk a tear.
3 – Try a probiotic
It is understood these days that gut health is in serious decline overall. A combination of stress and diet is working its way through the intestines and gastric system. This is causing a loss of the gut flora that will help to have regular movements.
It is a good idea to try to add some probiotics to your diet to get rid of frequent constipation. These are foods that will reintroduce good bacteria to your system that will improve every phase of your digestion.
Yogurt is probably the most famous probiotic that people are familiar with. However, there are lots of other fermented foods that will also give you the same benefits. Sauerkraut and kimchi are good examples as are kombucha and certain cheeses.
