Although they are not as common as they used to be, large families still exist, and they have their own necessities. Normally, these houses are full of love and care, but they do need to be managed well. Otherwise, things can rapidly head down the hill, causing problems for everyone. I grew up in a family of 6. There were 4 of us siblings and only one bathroom in our house! So you can understand it could get chaotic at times! I’ve put together a few tips on how to manage a large family, and by gosh my mum did it well!

1. Get your Finances in Place
Getting your family finances in order is a crucial step in providing stability and security for your large family. With the responsibilities of providing for multiple children and ensuring their future well-being, it’s important to consider financial products like instant life insurance, which can offer immediate protection without the lengthy application process of traditional policies.
Instant life insurance can be a critical component in your financial toolkit, granting you peace of mind with its rapid coverage. Additionally, term life insurance plays a pivotal role in family financial planning. It provides a safety net over a specified period, which you can align with your family’s major financial obligations, such as mortgage payments or your children’s education period. This way, should anything unforeseen happen, term life insurance can help ensure that your family’s financial needs will be taken care of during those critical years, safeguarding their lifestyle and future opportunities.
2. Organization is the Keyword
Our daily lives are much busier than they used to be, for prior generations. That includes kids as well. A lack of organization will interfere in everyone’s activities, creating tension and unhappiness. It has to be part of the smaller things, as well as the larger picture. Laundry is a good example of where it can go wrong. Skipping it, even for just one day, will get you behind the task, and it will be hard to regain control, afterwards. When folding the clothes, you need to recognize which goes to whom easily, by inserting name labels from Wunderlabel inside. Any little thing that can make you save a few seconds helps!
In the wider scope of things, you need to plan as long in advance as possible, when dealing with a large group. Simply getting everyone together for a special event or a vacation, is a hard task. Therefore, they must be on everyone’s agenda for a long time before they occur. And since kids are usually not so good at keeping a calendar, do it for them by having a large-format one, located in the kitchen area. Look at it yourself, daily, and remind everyone frequently about things to come, starting at least a month in advance.
3. Install a Permanent Routine
These tips should be entered into the family way, as early as possible. That means as soon as the kids can understand what they are doing and why it needs to be done.
A routine starts with the schedule of the day. At what times will meals be served? What is considered bedtime for all, or each one? Who takes a shower, and when? What time does everyone leave for school? These elements of life should be as unmovable as a rock. Adjustments will have to be made over time, according to a new school or work schedule (for example), but otherwise, this schedule should always be the same and cannot be contested by anyone.
4. Insert Personal Time
Parents of large families need time on their own. Together as a couple, but also alone time. If that doesn’t happen, the tension in the couple could become too heavy, and something will have to give. Don’t overestimate yourself. We all have our fragilities. Believing that you are different could be very costly, in such a situation, for you and all the ones that depend on you.
