Isn’t space a wonderful topic to learn about? L’s topic at school this term is space and she is like a sponge learning many facts and figures on anything space-related. She isn’t in KS2 yet, but I know she has deep knowledge on things to do with planets. She could name all the planets in order before she started school! So last week while she was on half term, we got the Physical Processes: Space Race Game out and played it together.
The game is produced by a company called Oaka Books. Oaka produces learning resources for visual and dyslexic learners, irrespective of reading age. They have a range of resources from KS1 up to the GCSE level for teachers, parents and home educators.
Description
Using active learning, the game involves frantic fun as you make your way around space, climbing up rocket boosters and falling down comets, to try and rescue a stranded astronaut in space, winning Asteroids and Stars as you go along. You will need to answer Physics questions along the way!
Our Thoughts
It’s so much fun to play – of course, you get the learning element as well! But if you love the basic snakes and ladders game you will LOVE the Space Race Game. It’s fantastic!
As you can see from our images the game board is stunning. It’s been beautifully illustrated and it’s pretty big too, so lots of game play value! The question cards are in two different shades, so you can tailor the game to upper KS2 or lower KS2 depending on abilities.
Some of the questions are still a little out of reach for L, but she is always eager to learn and this game provides that. It’s rich in knowledge for kids and the perfect way to learn interactively about the physical processes and space. We love the addition of the planet cards!
