L loves roleplaying. Ever since she could walk she would be dressing up in costumes, and trying my shoes and clothes on! So you can imagine how excited she was to receive the new Shimmer and Sparkle InstaGlam Dolls Series 2 Neon to review. I must say I was pretty excited myself, they are so cute!
What are the Shimmer and Sparkle InstaGlam Dolls?
They are a fabulous range of fashion dolls containing real makeup inside. There are 6 new Shimmer n Sparkle InstaGlam dolls to collect with a bright new neon theme. The dolls are Nina, Luna, Hayley, Jade, Mia and Evie. Each doll comes with its own unique neon hair colour, outfit, and on-the-go neon makeup colour palettes. We received Evie and Hayley to share with you today.
Glam your doll!
Each doll has a removable brush and a sponge applicator that you can remove carefully from their head. You can use these to unlock a secret sparkle reveal. Brush the doll’s eyelids and lips with water to reveal a sparkly makeup look on the doll! This was great fun to reveal! The makeup palette is also removable from the doll’s head.
Glam yourself!
If you unclip the back of the dolls head a fantastic hidden makeup compartment for you to use is revealed. It also has a mirror to help kids create their own beauty style.
Each makeup palette on each doll features a combination of on-trend neon colours to help kids create the perfect on-the-go look. The makeup palette is also removable from the doll’s head.

- 2 x eyeshadow
- 2 x lipgloss
The 4-inch fashion and beauty dolls have poseable heads for added play. If you turn their stand upside down, you will see two catches to twist. This will release the dolls off their stands so they can be played with. They are easily fitted back on the stand after.
The Shimmer and Sparkle InstaGlam Dolls are compact and portable so can be taken anywhere for play on the go. I love as a parent that they encourage creative play. Beauty and style tips can be shared with friends and family. They make the best birthday or Christmas gifts. Once all the lockdown restrictions are lifted and playdates and sleepovers are again once more, the dolls make great roleplaying accompaniments. They are great for children to learn how to perfect their makeup artist skills.
Our overall thoughts on the dolls are that they are lots of fun. Great for playing together with mum – yes I’ve had the makeup put on me!
I’ve always encouraged my daughter to play dress up and re-enact her favourite stories. As she has grown older the next step was for her to try on some play makeup, which she does in her room while also putting makeup on her dolls! She has been playing with my makeup for a couple of years now! But I wouldn’t let her wear it outside the house for now, she is too young for that at the moment.
