As you know we are a huge Orchard Toys fan. During the past year, we’ve used them very often to keep busy and beat boredom spells. I signed up for their newsletter for the free activities into my email box which are lots of fun! Today we are reviewing three great games Dino-Snore-Us, First Jungle Friends, and Speed Spelling. And we are giving a set away at the end of this post!

Aim: Collect the most eggs without waking the T-Rex in this board game

We are thoroughly enjoying playing the Dino-Snore-Us board game. It’s good for the girls to learn to take turns and to improve counting skills. One of L’s biggest things is that her mind can wander onto something else really easily. But Dino-Snore-Us has helped to keep her focused on the game she’s playing. It’s also perfect for observational skills – the girls like to keep track of what each other is doing! Overall it’s a really bright colourful and fun game for the whole family to get involved!

Dino-Snore-Us is suitable for 2-4 players and for ages 4 plus – Little Dottie who is nearly 3 doesn’t quite understand the rules, but she knows how to move her counter around the board and I help her with the counting. And she knows how to ROAR!

First Jungle Friends

Two adorable 12-piece jigsaw puzzles in one box

First Jungle Friends is the perfect introduction to jigsaw puzzles! There are two friendly jungle animals to piece together in the pack. The jigsaw pieces are quite large which makes it ideal for younger children to hold and piece together helping with their hand-eye coordination skills and of course motor skills. It helps encouraging discussion and observational skills.

Once the jigsaw puzzles are completed, learning can be extended further by asking questions about the picture, for example: Why is the monkey happy? What is the giraffe eating? The addition of a guide on the back of the box is a great way to encourage conversation with young children. This is what we’ve been doing to help little Dottie with her speech as she is a little behind on getting her words out. It’s a lovely quality puzzle that is great for promoting

Speed Spelling

Aim: Race against the timer to spell the most words in this fast-paced literacy game

As soon as L saw this Speed Spelling game she was so excited as it’s the same one she uses at school! It’s a fantastic fast-paced literacy game for children ages 5-8 years. Suitable for 2-4 players, each player takes turns to spell out words before the sand timer runs out. If they are midway through spelling a word it gets passed onto the next player to complete. Kids will love the race against time element and taking each other’s words! It’s such a fun game to help kids learn to spell.

Speed Spelling can be used to develop letter recognition skills before developing into a fun game. It helps to promote social skills and encourages observational skills. Once the game is complete children can be encouraged to talk about the words they have made.

  58. My nephews love Orchard Games, would love to be able to add these to their collection! Pretty sure they don’t have Dino-Snore-Us, First Jungle Friends, and Speed Spelling, if they do then I would love to start my little niece’s collection off.
