To most non-believers, religion is time spent worshiping and serving an invisible God. However, besides faith, there are many other aspects of religion. You can access many life lessons and opportunities for character development through religion.

Religion has many benefits to offer, physically, emotionally, and even mentally.

Here are five benefits that religion has to offer.

5 Benefits Religion Has To Offer

Learning Something New

The bible is written and translated into many languages from different parts of the world. Therefore you can learn a new language or culture by reading a bible written in a foreign language.

Apart from the bible, there are other resources that teach not only religion but also integrity and a sense of belonging. For instance, by applying to your local church group you will learn how to share the gospel and relate it to your personal experiences that will help you and others grow together. Moreover, there are church activities for youth groups that will help you enhance your knowledge and form good relationships with your peers.

Reading Spanish bibles, for example, is an excellent way to learn Spanish by starting with commonly used words like God, love, hope, and gratitude. To become fluent in that language, you can recite passages from the bible. This will simultaneously strengthen your faith and develop your language skills.

The Golden Rule

Religious principles follow the Golden Rule, “do unto others as you want to be done unto you.” This principle is not only good for you; it is also good for the receiver of your goodwill. It can incite the desire of also wanting to do good and reap the rewards after that.

Religion promotes good ethics, which are rewarded with grace and favor in return.

Respect For Authority

Religion has similar principles to that of law and order. For example, three of the ten commandments can be found in the constitutions of many countries worldwide. Religion encourages believers to follow and submit to authority.

Without authority, there would be lawlessness and peril in the world. Similarly, believers would lack a moral compass without religion, and their actions would not match their faith.

Healthy Lifestyle

Religion dictates that believers avoid getting involved with destructive forces such as drugs, alcohol, and other substances. Thus leading a life of faith and religion will ensure both mental and physical health.

The lack of involvement in these bad activities can increase your life expectancy. If you do not indulge in alcohol, you have less chance of developing issues with your liver. If you do not smoke cigarettes, chances are you will not develop lung diseases.

Character Development

Religion encourages good human traits such as love, kindness, humanity, and purity. Therefore those that live by the rules of regions are more likely to have these good characteristics and hence be upstanding members of society.

Faith also encourages selfless services to others, thus encouraging a sense of community building and belonging. Those who serve others will find that they can change people’s lives for the better by serving them with care and kindness.

Many people who serve others in their faith are blessed with God’s grace. God rewards righteousness and humility but frowns upon arrogance and dissent.

There are many benefits to leading a life based on religion and faith. In addition to those mentioned above, the great thing about following God’s word is that it will put you in favor of God. It will also help you raise children who are good and upstanding members of society.
