Staycation Spotlight: TREALLEN ROCK – Rock, Cornwall

*Ad

Are you looking for a family-friendly luxury break in North Cornwall?

Without the hustle and bustle of the more well-known Padstow.

Then this is it. TREALLEN ROCK is the kind of place families book when they want a Cornwall break that feels a bit special, without any fuss. Set in Rock, right by the Camel Estuary, this contemporary coastal holiday home sleeps 6 across three double bedrooms, making it a great fit for families, two couples travelling together, or a small group who would rather have room to breathe than squeeze into a cottage.

Staycation Spotlight: TREALLEN ROCK - Rock, Cornwall

EVLA Stay Ltd.

Set within its own grounds on a private drive, TREALLEN ROCK is a short walk or a 3-minute drive from Rock beach. It also places guests close to the village’s well-known dining scene and the wider North Cornwall coastline, with Polzeath’s surf beaches around an 8-minute drive.

A big part of the appeal is how well-equipped the house is for real-life holidays: a west-facing private garden for al fresco meals, a dedicated games room for rainy days, and a seasonal hot tub included at no extra cost in July and August.

What caught my eye

First, the house layout. With three double bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a cloakroom, TREALLEN ROCK has that rare “everyone can get ready without stress” setup. It’s the kind of configuration that works brilliantly for busy families like mine and shared stays, where comfort matters as much as location.

Secondly, there’s the short distance to Rock beach. It’s close enough for spontaneous beach trips (or a quick dash back for snacks and forgotten suncream!), but with the benefit of being set within its own grounds away from others.

Finally, the facilities would make it feel like a home away from home rather than just a place to sleep. A dedicated games room takes the pressure off on rainy days; we get a fair few in Cornwall! While the west-facing garden gives everyone space to unwind outdoors.

The gorgeous coastal village of Rock itself is a big part of the appeal too. For someone like me, who lives further down in the county and doesn’t often get the chance to explore North Cornwall, Rock feels like a treat: a change of scenery, a different pace, and a chance to see another side of Cornwall without travelling out of the county.

Why Rock suits a quieter, more local-feeling stay

Rock has a relaxed, village feel that many families prefer, notably during peak season. While Padstow (just across the water) can feel busier and more day-trip heavy, Rock tends to be calmer and easier to settle into, with beach time, estuary walks, and low-key family days built in.

It’s also brilliantly placed: close enough for a Padstow visit when the mood strikes, but far enough to come back to a quieter base at the end of the day.

With three double bedrooms and two bathrooms plus a cloakroom, the layout helps avoid the usual holiday-house bottlenecks (no queuing for showers, no squeezing into one shared space).

The Location: Rock, the Camel Estuary, and beyond

Rock is one of North Cornwall’s most desirable coastal villages. It’s known for its golden sand beaches, sheltered waters, and a lively sailing scene on the Camel Estuary. It’s also a great base for checking out nearby favourites like Padstow, which is a short walk or ferry ride away, and Polzeath, which is within easy reach for surf days.
