Today is Friday!, in my opinion it’s the best competition entering day of the week! and of course the weekend is practically here! woohoo! Anyway back to today, Fridays on twitter is crazy, companies love to give away stuff! hence the main hash tag #FreebieFriday! I have been religiously entering Twitter competitions on Fridays for quite a few years now and have won all sorts! from milkshake vouchers, cakes, and freeze pops, to books, a door handle and letter box, cleaning equipment and a torch pen! Its a mad world!
I find entering twitter competitions are quick and easy to enter if you are time limited. To find competitions on Twitter, type any of the hash tags in the picture above into your search bar on Twitter. I am sure there are more competition hash tags out there, but these were all I could think of while writing this! Remember to follow the competition host as well, as that is normally a requirement before you re tweet and it makes it easier for them to contact you if you win.
Recently I have noticed that the hash tag #WinItWednesday is getting very popular as well on Wednesday’s, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye out for them as well. The more you start entering and following on twitter, the more competitions will show up in your time line.
From my personal experience of winning Twitter competitions don’t just re tweet the original company’s tweet, engage with them with using their own competition hash tags. A little comment here and there with those hash tags will get you noticed! Another tip is to always find the company’s original tweet to re tweet otherwise the poor person that has re tweeted it will have zillions of Twitter notifications after you have re tweeted their re tweet!
I hope this all makes sense to you! If not please leave me a comment and I’ll be happy to help.
Good luck with entering Twitter competitions!
I love to find and receive free samples. It’s a great new way of trying new products that are coming out. I also save them to make little gift bags up at christmas for my sisters.
Over the past few months I have recieved many free samples and small wins through the post, so today I thought I would take a piccy of the ones I have left that haven’t been eaten, drank, given away, planted or used in some other way!
The Coco Pops porridge sample only arrived a few days ago so I am looking forward to that one, as I’m a major chocoholic! I found this sample giveaway on Facebook. I normally find it very hard to win anything on there, I believe it’s because the volume of traffic on there entering competitions nowadays has grown tenfold. A few years back the chances of winning a competiton was relatively good! It just gives me more determination to try harder! My only other win from Facebook this year was back in January when I was a runner up in a Roots crisps competition, they were yummy!
Finding Free Samples
- Visiting your local department stores for health, beauty and makeup samples. If like me you don’t always wear makeup they are practically throwing them at you!
- There are lots of freebie websites out there, so if you sign up, they send you emails each day with links to sample giveaways.
- Some magazines giveaway new trial size products so keep an eye out when you go shopping!
- With the increase of social media users nowadays lots of companies are giving away 100’s of samples to advertise their products. Facebook and Twitter are the best ones for this!
Most of the other samples are plant seeds, which for a huge gardening enthusiast like me are the best post arrivals ever! All the little white packets are herb seeds so I thought I would grow a little herb garden in some pots on my patio.
I would love to hear your thoughts on which are the best freebies you have ever recieved?
This is one weeks worth of wins and free samples. The door handles and letter box were from a Twitter competition with Yale on #FreebieFriday, the best day of the week for Twitter competitions! which I will say more about later on in the week! The Tefal frying pan was also from a Twitter competition and it arrived with a pack of sausages and some celery! this was from @love_thecrunch. I honestly didn’t expect the sausages and celery I thought the competition was for the frying pan, so it was an unexpected lovely surprise!
The mini bottle of baileys and the tiny tube of splash concentrated drink were free samples. I love to sign up for free samples as its a great way of trying new products without the cost. A great tip is to save them up for little stocking fillers and pop them all in a little gift bag for Christmas for the family. The past few days I have had a green tea teabag through the post box from PG Tips, which made a lovely cuppa after all that painting and decorating fiasco! A couple of Lacoste aftershave samples have arrived as well, and I know I only entered for one sample so that’s twice the luck!
I find the free sample websites online through various links, through postings on Facebook and Twitter. I might occasionally have an email sent by company sent asking if I would like to try one of their free samples and sometimes they ask for a review in return.
The three books in the photo were more of my Goodreads wins. Entering the competitions to win free books from Goodreads are my favourite ones. I love to help out debut authors with their new books in posting reviews on Goodreads. There are also chances to read proof copies of new books before they are even published! For a booklover like me this is so much fun! If you are lucky the books are often signed by the authors and can include bookmarks, postcards and I have even had a pen!
Here are some tips on how to find post card competitions.
A few weeks ago, I decided to start entering post card competitions, because I realized that I had been missing out on entering some very big prizes! Silly me! A lot of the ITV TV competitions have now stopped their free online entry, and the only other methods of entry seemed to be through texts costing roughly £1.50 a text plus standard network rate, or phoning premium rate numbers, so postcard entries (the cheapest way) it is! The cost of a second class stamp is currently 53p but from 30th March Royal Mail are increasing the price to 54p. Before the price increases I am going to head to the Post Office and stock up!
It is really easy to find post card competitions, they are everywhere! You can find them in magazines, and local newspapers, but the best ones can be found while just watching TV! They are mostly shown onscreen during advert breaks or at the end of the programme. I always have my box of post cards and a pen beside me while watching TV. Oh and always have the Sky+ remote beside you to pause the TV while copying down the address!
When I decided I wanted to start entering post card competitions, I had a look around online to find some lovely post cards to use. I came across these gorgeous Penguin ones, which had a different classic book cover on each one. Its brought my two favorite hobbies together, reading books and entering competitions! I have found it very hard to send some of the post cards for competitions as they have been of my favorite book covers!
A post card top tip! Always write your name and address at a right angle to the address the post card is being sent, to avoid the post cards being returned to you!
I won this foam finger on the 17th February from a Dettol competition and it arrived this week in the post! There were various prizes up for grabs including headphones, iPod s and inflatable guitars and I was lucky enough to win a foam finger! I love it! Cannot wait until the next series of The X factor so I can sit on my sofa with my foam finger cheering along!
It’s not even 10am yet and I have just had a WEM (winning email to non compers!) from my favorite website Goodreads! Great start to the day! The book I won is called A Crown for Cold Silver by Alex Marshall. It looks to be an action, fantasy type of book about a retired warrior looking for revenge. This is one of the genres I am least familiar with so I am really looking forward to it arriving and giving it a go.
So as it’s #WorldBookDay I would like to share with you the types of books I like to read, they vary from horror (Stephen King and James Herbert) to history, romance, non-fiction, crime, autobiographies and science fiction. My favorite book is The Stand by Stephen King. I borrowed a copy off my older sister many years ago and I couldn’t put it down. I have never owned my own copy so for Christmas my husband bought it for me. I was so chuffed! Its now on my to-read list (alongside many other books!)
I won a box of Tyrrells Crisps back in January and these turned up this week! There is an assortment of crisps, popcorn, vegetable crisps and a packet of fried beans which I am eager to try! Thanks Tyrrells!
My win today was of a book from Goodreads (which is one of my favourite websites ever!) called The Great Zoo of China by Matthew Reilly. When I saw this competition I really really wanted to win a copy of this book, as I have read many of his other books. Which include Scarecrow, Iceman, Seven Ancient Wonders, Contest and Area 7. Matthew Reilly is a fantastic action, thriller writer. His books are well thought out with great lead characters. So I am well excited to add this book to my collection!
