Our Summer Family Diary – Creating Long-Lasting Memories

Here we are at the end of the Summer holidays and into September. At the start, I had concerns just like every other self-employed work from the home parent in that how can I survive 6 weeks working while looking after two young children? But I’ve done it! L has gone back to school in Year 1 and Dottie has started preschool. Mr B had two weeks off during the middle of August which helped take the pressure off me. And we also kept Dottie in the nursery for two mornings each week. Also, the weather was mostly amazing. It makes such a difference as the girls were outside every day in the garden so I could get snippets of work done while under the parasol!

During August we had some great days out, also spend lots of time in the garden, caught up with friends for breakfast, and generally had a fantastic month! I love creating our family memory posts to look back over in years to come. I’ve thought about getting some of the photos put into canvas prints for the wall in the living room. Here are a few pics from our Summer holidays:

Bike Riding

L loves her bike, we go to the park almost every weekend for her to ride around Malpas River. Over the holidays she has gotten very confident on her bike.

Garden Fun

We’ve spent many days and hours in the garden this summer. We’ve had water fun, lots of gardening, swing fun, played games and built a new chicken coop! The garden is our special place.

Heligan Gardens

One of our favourite places to visit is The Lost Gardens of Heligan. We have local passes so visit a couple of times a month. They always have a special event or something to see. We had great fun looking at the Dahlia’s in the flower show. One lovely lady gave L this gorgeous yellow Dahlia. I can’t wait to add this pic to a photo book I’m going to put together!

Birthday Party

All throughout the month of August L was looking forward to one of her friend’s birthday party at the end of August. Birthday parties are her thing. She loves them! Due to lockdown, she has missed her own birthday parties the last two years, but fingers crossed she will get hers next year!

Our Summer Holiday Family Diary

We’ve had such a fantastic Summer, and this is my favourite picture. I can’t wait to create a photo book and get some of these printed up to remember our long-lasting memories of the Summer.
