Eyeshadow, perfume and a football shirt

These are my latest competition wins that have arrived. I love the signed football shirt! Its from a Twitter win with Capital One and the team is Swindon FC. I absolutely adore little wins like these that are special.
My next one is a cute little love hearts air freshener from Evan Halshaw on Twitter. It smells gorgeous! I was only going to buy one the other day as well, so luck was definitely on my side.
I have to say most of my wins come from Twitter, but then that is my preferred social media site. My Twitter handle is @RachelBustin if you want to pop over and say hi to me over there! I spend many hours a day on there catching up on book news, entering competitions, reading new posts from my favourite bloggers and catching up on news in general. I have been on Twitter since 2009 and have loved every minute of it!. It is the quickest way to enter competitions, with most only needing a retweet. When you are time short (like me!) it’s ideal! I enter loads when I’m on my lunch breaks at work!

I won the book Techbitch by Lucy Sykes and Jo Piazza in the photo from a Goodreads giveaway. It’s a chick-lit novel about Imogen Tate who is editor-in-chief of Glossy magzine, returning from a sabatical to find someone else in her job. I see a lot of rivalry and fighting going to happen here hence the name Techbitch!
I received this beautiful perfume sample through the post yesterday. It’s called La Petite Robe Noire Eau Fraiche by Guerlain Paris. The scent is exquisite, flowery with a pistachio note. It is one I would definitely go out and buy. I love perfume samples, they are ideal testers to see if the scent suits you before you go out and buy the full size bottle.
I won these gorgeous eye shadows from Twitter as well! They are a collection of Next eye shadows. I normally always wear brown shades so will come in very useful. The quality of the shadow is fairly good but after a few hours I did notice some cracking on my eye lids. I don’t normally buy makeup from Next preferring brands like Rimmel that specialize in makeup, but I will make use of them.
So that’s my mid week catch up for you on competition wins. Don’t forget you can follow me on Bloglovin to keep up to date on my latest posts on, books, gardening and my competition wins.

This Weeks Collection of Wins!

As you all know all my ‘wins’ get sent to my parents house for delivery due to me never being at home. This is what my mum has collected for me this week!
My #FreebieFriday win was with FRijj on Twitter and they sent me 5 vouchers for free bottles of their milkshake which I absolutely love, especially the Fudge Brownie one! The Hedrin Protect & Go conditioning spray I won through the lovely whatkatysaid blog competition, and this will go to my sister for my nephew. I think it will be perfect for when he starts school in September!
I received the lovely cookbook through a Twitter win with Gill & Macmillan Books, it is also signed by the author which I always think makes it such a lovely touch. Cookbooks in my house always come in handy, so another perfect win.
The book in the photo Natchez Burning is from a Goodreads first read competition that i won on the 6th March. It’s nearly 900 pages long so is gonna take me awhile to read, but looks to be a fantastic thriller by the exciting cover, recommendation by my favourite author Stephen King and the exciting description on the back.
In my very first post, I mentioned that I won a watch from Breo, well it finally arrived after me having to chase them after I never received it when they said it was sent! It is a very gorgeous watch with a silicone strap and Swarovski Elements in the dial. Well worth the wait! I don’t normally wear watches during the day as my job does not permit watches to be worn, so I am going to save it for a going out watch.

What’s in a Hashtag?

Today is Friday!, in my opinion it’s the best competition entering day of the week! and of course the weekend is practically here! woohoo! Anyway back to today, Fridays on twitter is crazy, companies love to give away stuff! hence the main hash tag #FreebieFriday! I have been religiously entering Twitter competitions on Fridays for quite a few years now and have won all sorts! from milkshake vouchers, cakes, and freeze pops, to books, a door handle and letter box, cleaning equipment and a torch pen! Its a mad world!
I find entering twitter competitions are quick and easy to enter if you are time limited. To find competitions on Twitter, type any of the hash tags in the picture above into your search bar on Twitter. I am sure there are more competition hash tags out there, but these were all I could think of while writing this! Remember to follow the competition host as well, as that is normally a requirement before you re tweet and it makes it easier for them to contact you if you win.
Recently I have noticed that the hash tag #WinItWednesday is getting very popular as well on Wednesday’s, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye out for them as well. The more you start entering and following on twitter, the more competitions will show up in your time line.
From my personal experience of winning Twitter competitions don’t just re tweet the original company’s tweet, engage with them with using their own competition hash tags. A little comment here and there with those hash tags will get you noticed! Another tip is to always find the company’s original tweet to re tweet otherwise the poor person that has re tweeted it will have zillions of Twitter notifications after you have re tweeted their re tweet!
I hope this all makes sense to you! If not please leave me a comment and I’ll be happy to help.
Good luck with entering Twitter competitions!

3 Books and a Treat!

I have my day off from work every Wednesday, so each week I pop round to my parents to collect my delivery wins. This is the most exciting day of the week for me as It’s like Christmas! I’m like a big kid opening my packages to see what’s inside. I always enter my parents address for delivery details as I’m never home to collect them. My mum always looks out for the postman everyday to see what he’s got for me. She is even now on a first name basis with him and they talk about my competitions and wins!
So these are my wins from the past week. I was a runner up in a Wagg pet food competition and I was able to choose whether I wanted cat or dog food treats. I don’t have a cat so I chose dog treats. The flavour is chicken and cheese! Sounds a bit of a weird combination to me!
The books I won are from Goodreads first reads giveways. I wrote about winning A Crown for Cold Silver by Alex Marshall in my blog post last Thursday and here it is in the top right of the picture. Its possible the cover will change once its properly published as this is an uncorrected bound proof copy. I can’t wait to get stuck into this one with a hot chocolate and some biscuits, I think I’ll start this book on Sunday while the husband is watching the first Formula 1 race of the season!
The other two books are the Lament of Sky by BB Wynter which is a dark, fantasy and very intriguing read. It came with a gorgeous little note by the author on the inside pages which I thing is a lovely cute personal touch. The third book is called The Traitors’s Mark and is written by D.K Wilson. It’s a historical Tudor mystery based on the death of Hans Holbein in 1543, which to this day is still an unsolved real Tudor mystery. Looks a fantastic read to add to my never ending lists of books to read!

Cooking Book Wins with Freezing Tips!

                 cooking and freezing tips
This is my collection of cooking book wins, from various Twitter competitions over the past 18 months. I have a huge sweet tooth and the recipes in these books are to die for. My favourite book out of the three is Freeze written by Justine Pattison. It’s one of the most useful books I own! It contains not only recipes but ways to make the most out of your freezer. Some of the top tips inside include different reasons to freeze. A couple of the reasons are you have less waste, which in turn saves you money and you have the flexibility to store various meals without extra supermarket trips, costing again less money!
I use my freezer like its going out of fashion! I freeze bread and only take out what I need, so it’s kept fresh and soft. On Sundays my husband and I do big batch cooking and make enormous cottage pies and lasagne’s to freeze for the coming week as we are both very busy with work. Sometimes when we have been out of the house for 12 hours or more its hard to get the motivation to start cooking a meal, so our freezer batches come in quite handy in these situations!
Here is another top tip I recommend! If like me your freezer is not the biggest, and after a couple of tubs of ice-cream you have hardly any room whatsoever for anything moderately bigger than a chicken. Take all the outside cardboard packaging off all the food products and cut out the cooking instructions to place on the front of the fridge with magnet. Instantly you have room for that steak and ale pie that you slaved over by making the pastry by hand! Who needs all that extra cardboard on a box of ice-lollies? when you can slide them individually into gaps in the freezer drawers amongst the bag of frozen peas and turkey dinosaurs! So not only will you be saving money by using your freezer economically, but you will also be creating a wonderful colourful collage of bits of cardboard cooking times on your fridge-freezer!
