I’m a little late with baby girl’s 9 month review, but this past month has been crazy. I have returned to work as you know, baby girl can now stand up by herself and she has 2 bottom front teeth now.
In her 6 month review last time I told you all about our weaning journey and how I hd been trying to get her on formula during the day time. Well that has kind of worked. When my mum has her while I’m at work, baby girl has her formula, also when she’s with her dad on Saturday’s when I’m at work. But when I’m at home it has to be her ‘booby’ I cannot for the life of me get her to take a bottle. She will throw it out of my hands and grab at my bra straps!
So when she’s with me it’s ‘booby’. She’s such a smart girl and will take her formula when she knows I’m not around. My body seems to have reacted with producing less milk while I’m at work so no sore boobs, yes! and while I’ve been at home Wed-Fri I produce enough for her during the day. Our bodies are just amazing aren’t they?
We are weaning! So when the lovely people from Heavenly Organic Superfoods asked if I wanted to try out their range of baby foods, I said yes! It has come at just the right time. We have hit 6 Months. That magical age where babies want more than milk.
Baby girl has started off on purees. I’m sorry but baby-led weaning is not for us. I can’t think of anything worse than giving a 6 month old a stick of cooked carrot or a broccoli floret and say here you go. The fear of choking is too high for me.
Anyway heavenly organic have a great range of fruit pouches and wafer wisps on the market.
Heavenly organic superfoods are a range of guilt-free baby weaning meals and they have now moved into snacks as well. They were invented by Shauna Blair who was frustrated about the limited choice of baby food in Northern Ireland for children.
Heavenly Organic Wafer Wisps
Don’t you just love the name ‘wafer wisps’?
Baby girl loves these! She adores anything banana flavored at the moment so we tried the pumpkin and banana wafer wisps first. I love the subtle banana smell. They also taste really nice and not overly sweet. I love to have a quick taste of her food before she tries it!
It’s hard to believe August is here already. The start of a new month means it’s time for the monthly roundup and bucket list. July has been a crazy month. With our first family holiday and my husband’s Nan’s 100th Birthday. My older sister coming over from Canada to meet baby girl for the first time, and the biggest thing for my blog was going self hosted. I have the photo of the 100th birthday cake here in My Sunday Photo
It really has been a crazy month and I know I’m a few days late writing this as all 3 of us have had terrible Summer colds so haven’t felt the best.
So we have started the weaning journey which you can read about in baby girl’s 6 Month Review. It’s a fun journey seeing what she likes and doesn’t, the messy face and hands! We were given some Out of Date Mates to review and these help organise your jars and pouches to know what you opened when. A money-saving lifesaver for weaning.
We are now starting on that big journey – Weaning! That scary time for a parent. Your baby is growing up. They need more than milk now so you enter that phase and question yourself.
What on earth do you feed them?
We have started slow and began with baby rice mixed with some of my breast milk. Baby girl loves it!.
As a newbie to buying baby food packets and jars I didn’t realise that they have different time limits in which they need to be used by. The packets of baby rice have a month. Some of the jars have 24 hours, some have 48 hours.
How on earth will I remember what was opened when, and when I’m supposed to use it by?
Out of Date Mates
Well to make life easier Out of Date Mates have these amazing little magnets which you write the time/date on. I have chosen to write the time/date that the products need to be used by. But you can choose to write on the time/date you opened them.
I have been a Milton Ambassador for a few months now and I’m absolutely loving it!
Milton have been going for years and it’s my mums favourite brand. Back in the day when my sisters, brother and I were small mum was a huge Milton fan. She used to use the liquid concentrated stuff in the blue bottles whereas now I use the tablets.
I have one of those huge 5 litre bucket sterilisers where you can just throw everything in. Plastic baby cutlery, bowls, bottles, teething rings and plastic toys as well. Furthermore it’s one of those pieces of equipment that you can’t live without once you have one!
Oh and not forgetting all those breastfeeding pump parts.
