Gosh it’s been a while since the last update. Life is very busy and time passes you by in the blink of an eye. If I’m being honest I kept up better with the monthly updates with baby girl.
Anyway here we are at 7 months. Baby Dottie has come on leaps and bounds these past few weeks. She is confident in sitting up, then moves onto all fours. Not quite crawling yet, but when she’s sitting on her bum she shuffles herself around the floor and goes around in circles!
Baby dottie has now turned 18 weeks old and we have had the third set of immunisations. The second set four weeks ago she took all in her stride and was fine. This time around she was pretty ill 24 hours after. She had a high temperature and was crying/teasy all day long. The only respite she got bless her, was when we sat outside in the cool air with the chickens.
Her hand eye coordination has improved immensely. She’s moving her hands all about now and starting to grab for things. My iPhone has ended up on the floor more than once as she’s tried to grab it! Then again she may be telling me something!
I have to say I’m fed up with cleaning up the kitchen floor after baby girl has thrown her food everywhere. I never thought that you could buy something like the splatmat to put underneath the high chair. BooginHead have come up with this fantastic yet simple mat that measures a massive 52″ round. The splat mat has been a lifesaver for my kitchen floor in the new house I can tell you!
The BooginHead splatmat comes folded up in this box which was easy to get out. I have to say as packed into the box the mat comes out with a lot of creases, that are not easy to smooth out. I’m guessing over time they will fade away the more it’s used. My Chicco high chair is a rather large high chair and the splatmat will fit comfortably underneath.
When I went back to work a few months ago, I looked into buying a follow-on milk for my daughter. Up until this point she was exclusively breast-fed, so I wanted the best follow-on formula for her.
My mum suggested trying out SMA® PRO Follow-on Milk because she used it for us when we were small, so that’s what I did as they always say mum’s know best!
I still breast feed my daughter in the evenings before bed, she loves the comfort, then during the day she has her follow-on milk. I find this is a great balance with her mixed weaning diet.
I have found at this 6 months + stage that babies become so active. Learning to crawl, rolling over and even trying to walk.
Therefore it’s highly essential they are getting the right nutrients from a follow-on formula like SMA® PRO Follow-on Milk. I know I want my daughter to have the best start in life and build a nutritional foundation for life.
So what are the benefits of SMA® PRO Follow-on Milk?
- It’s suitable for babies 6 months old and over and designed to complement their weaning diet and support their development and growth in these important early stages.
- It’s fortified with iron to help support normal cognitive development and contains important minerals such as Zinc and Iodine.
- Contains Vitamin D and Calcium to support normal growth and development of bone
- Contains Omega 3 & 6 essential fatty acids to support normal development and growth†.
- SMA® PRO Follow-on Milk contains GOS/FOS *in powder formulation only; GOS/FOS = Galactooligosaccharides/ Fructo-oligosaccharides

†The beneficial effect of essential fatty acids is obtained with a daily intake of 10g of Linoleic acid and 2 g of a-linolenic acid.
I love to give baby girl fruit puree’s. We started on them on our weaning journey many months ago. They gave me a piece of mind knowing she couldn’t choke, and also that she was getting her daily intake of fruit. I can honestly say we have probably tried most puree’s on sale, until we were offered to try out the ones from the Goodness Gracious Food Company. These were ones I had never heard of!
It’s been a while since I did the last review of baby girl, in fact that was her 9 month review. Later on I will let you know how we got on at the health visitor.
But first we come a long way since she was 9 months old in terms of her development. The biggest thing I’m so excited to share with you that I have to blurt out first is that she took her first few steps unaided!!! In New Years Eve as well!!! A fantastic start to 2017!!!!
She had been building up to it for a few weeks. Cruising along the sofas gaining confidence all the time. I was sitting on the sofa opposite to my husband and she wanted to come over to me I could see it! So instead of holding on to everything to get to me she had her little arms out for balance and took those precious first 3 steps all by her self. We were so proud and so excited that both of us got to see her do it for the first time.
As each day goes past now she really is gaining her confidence and is finding herself that I know in no-time she will be running around.
So now I have a toddler!!
