When I was about 10 years old I used to be into all the Nancy Drew mystery books and basically any adventure books I could get my hands on. I used to love going with my mum browsing around charity shops at all the books. We used to get some great books. Then Dad used to take us after school to our local library as well so I could top up my books every couple of weeks. Here I would save up my pocket money to buy the ex-library books. I would spend all day browsing in the library if I could!
Anyway onto the actual aim of this post. I have been given the chance to read and review a fab little mystery kids book called Mystery at the Ice Hotel it’s one of the Chasing Danger mystery books by Sara Grant. Totally my type of children’s book. I’m so excited to be on this book tour!
I had never heard of the Poppy Pym series before I was contacted. A good blurb on the book sold me I’m afraid in the email. So here I am reviewing this great series for kids, and also on day 1 of the Poppy Pym Blog Tour!
Oh and to host a little giveaway of the two books for you. I think they will make an excellent Christmas gift for kids.
Poppy Pym and the Double Jinx
From the Winner of the Scholastic Montegrappa Prize for New Children’s Writing It’s Halloween at Saint Smithen’s. When the Brimwell town hall burns down, the amateur production of Macbeth is moved to the school and it’s all hands on deck. But when the play is struck by a series of mysterious attacks, it’s up to Poppy, her friends and her circus family to save the play and unmask the culprit.
I came across the Little Passports subscription service through Angela over at Days in Bed. Little Passports have an Early Explorers kit, which is the one I received to review and a World Edition. They cover the ages 3-5 and 6-10 years old.
The idea behind Little Passports is to inspire your children to learn about the world around them. It’s an educational subscription box that will arrive through the mail every month.
I was offered the chance to review the fantastic app from Kidloland which is aimed at ages 0-5 years old. I had never heard of KidloLand before so was very interested in what their app could offer a 5 month old.
My initial questions were:
- Would it be too old for a 5 month old?
- Are there lots of activities to do?
- Would it keep an older child occupied?
- What was the quality of the images like?
- Do you get your monies worth?
So the app was easily to download from the app store onto my iPhone. I was eager to see what the app was about.
When I was pregnant with baby girl I wish I had thought to use Bio-Oil for my stretch marks. I used a stretch mark cream which really wasn’t very good.
Anyway I have been using Bio-Oil recently and it is a wonderful thing. Although I am very proud of my c-section scar I’m using the Bio-Oil to help reduce the purple colour and to help it heal completely. I’m grateful to Bio-Oil for the chance to have tried it.
When the people at Bobadeg
offered me one of their gorgeous personalised children’s books to review I jumped at the chance!
They are also going to let me give two books away to you, my readers.

Now lets hear what Bobadeg is about:
“Bobadeg is based in the UK and has developed a range of fun and educational, personalised books for children aged 5 and under. Our aim is that each of our products provide a unique learning adventure for each child that makes them feel special.
All of our books can be personalised with your child’s photo and name. A number of our customers comment on how proud their child or grandchild feels when they receive their book and how often they go back to it once they have received it.”
Their personalised kids books are aimed at children aged 5 and under. But my daughter is only 4 months old and is fascinated by all the bright colours, and I love to read the story to her. I do think if she got hold of it though it would end up a chewed mess! So for now I will just hold and read it to her. Until she is older to understand it.
There are 7 designs of the Bobadeg books you can choose from.
- Fairy Garden
- Funny Fish
- I can Fight Dragons – Boys Version
- I can Fight Dragons – Girls Version
- Jiggly Juggly Journey
- Swirly Twirly Kite
- That’s Poo!
As you can see from the photo below I chose The Fairy Garden version
I think what makes the book really special is as well as adding your child’s name and photo you can also have a personal message placed inside the front cover.
How To Create Your Personalised Bobadeg Book
There are 3 simple steps on the Bobadeg website
to help you create your personalised book.
STEP 1 – PICK A BOOK from one of their great designs.
STEP 2 – PICK A SIZE: You can choose between a standard size book and free bookmark or a mini book which is like the one I received above.
STEP 3 – PERSONALISATION DETAILS – Simply fill in their personalisation boxes to let them know:
a) Your child’s first name,
b) The message you would like to appear on the inside cover of the book
c) A photo of your child facing the camera
I just have to point out that on the back of the mini book was some of the other books in the series with their personalised front covers. I really love this little touch as it’s great to see what the other books would look like if you decide to get more from the series.
I think they are great little books and make perfect little birthday presents. Therefore I am giving the personalised Bobadeg books a 5 out of 5 stars rating.
* I received this personalised mini book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
