If you’re lucky enough to have your own conservatory, you should do what you can to make the most of it. The best way to think of a conservatory is as an extension of both the living room and the garden, bringing the outdoors in and vice versa. By working on this premise, you can create a stylish, comfy conservatory to keep the whole family happy.
We are planning to have a new conservatory built when we move into our new home. It’s one thing I have always wanted and can’t think of anywhere else I would love to cosy up with a book and a slice of cake!
Each one of us has a different meaning of what family means to us. A family can be defined in many ways. Is a ‘normal family” a married mother and father and their biological children living together under one roof?
Today a family is more likely to be defined as a specific group of people that may be made up of partners, children, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. There are many types of families and some include: Nuclear family, Adopted family, Step family, Foster family, Traditional family and Complex family.
Here is what family means to me
Family means a lot to me. Growing up in a family of 6 was so much fun. My siblings and I used to have so much fun as kids. We grew up on a small holding so it was the outdoors life for us. The good ole days they were. We never had a lot of money but we had each other. We used to make up our own games and keep ourselves occupied for hours. We sometimes fought like cat and dog but always made up.
Now we are older we have gone our own separate ways. My older sister lives in Vancouver, but we are still just as close. Technology nowadays makes it so much easier to keep in contact. My siblings are a huge part of my family and I couldn’t do without them.
A family can be anyone you choose it to be.
Wise words indeed. The nuclear family is not like the TV show 2.4 Children from the 90’s anymore!
Are you looking for an ideal place for your family? What are your criteria for choosing these places? For a lot of people, raising a family involves staying in a place where it is suitable for children, where the environment is tranquil, where there are jobs, and most of all, where the ambience is a happy one. In the UK, certain regions are deemed excellent to grow a family.
According to data gathered by the Office of National Statistics by interviewing 300, 000 people in the past three years, the Highlands of Scotland has the largest number of happy people in the entire UK. 43% of those who were interviewed have rated their well-being as a 9 or a 10 with 10 the highest possible score. It has been noticed that those living in the rural areas tend to have a happier life than those living in urban areas. The countryside is beautiful with a strong local economy and solid local communities.
I have been trying to write this post for a few days now. But as usual there has been so much Christmas stuff to do that time has been short. Anyway I was tagged by the wonderful Claire from The Pramshed to answer these questions about my Christmas.
Christmas is a very special time of the year for my family as my older sister comes home from Canada where she has lived for 10 years now. My mum has always said that we need to always get together at Christmas. That one special time of the year when we make family memories. Catch up. Eat lots of great food. Not forgetting the family tradition of always watching Top of the Pops and the Queen’s speech while stuffing down Christmas pudding.
A good support network is crucial regardless of what stage of life you’re at. For children, spending time with family teaches them key socialisation which they need to succeed in the world, as well as comfort and stability. For adults, friends and relatives can offer advice and assistance during hard times; these are the people you will both laugh with and cry with. For older adults and seniors, friends and family might be their only contact with the outside world. The people in your life are far more important than money or possessions, so make the time to maintain connections with them. We all lead busy lives, but try to find the time where you can. If you know you’ve not made as much effort as you should make 2017 a year to change that!
A brand new year is the perfect time to reflect and make changes, and what better change than to spend more time with the people that matter most.
Birthdays and Christmases are the perfect excuse to get everyone together. Whenever there’s a special occasion, you could host a get-together and invite all of your loved ones. Celebrations are so much more special when you’re surrounded by your favourite people! It’s at times like these we tend to think about the people who are no longer with us. For those who have passed away, you could light a candle in their honor and say a few words about them to keep their memory alive. If there are family members you have lost contact with, you could consider using a family tracing service to get back in touch. If there are a lot of children in the family, you could put together days for them, hire a bouncy castle and some inflatables when the weather is nice or host an Easter egg hunt at Easter for example.

When I was given the chance to review a family game I really couldn’t say no. We love to play games especially card games so this Happy Families game from Go For It Games
includes the Go Fish gme as well seemed perfect.
Now I have an unusual surname and so was unable to get the game for my family name. It was pot luck which name I would get out of the list of the most popular 24 surnames and so I ended up with Jones!
I know a couple of Jones’s so will be fun teasing them with some facts I now know while I played the game about their surname.
The games have been redesigned especially for people with these surnames.
I love this idea – a personalised game. Great for kids to learn the origins and facts of their surname.
“Go For It Games are a small family enterprise specialising in really good little games and produce them in small quantities. Current ranges include card games for a special birthday milestone, games based on popular first names, and of course this one – popular surnames”
