Hello, and welcome to this week’s New Mum Stories from the fabulous Cécile over at The Frenchie Mummy. Cécile shares her feelings with us over her Baba’s operation to repair his faulty heart.
Over to you Cécile
I am not in the right set of mind today. I think it’s pretty obvious with the title of this post really…Frenchie Mummy doesn’t feel like being funny aujourd’hui. She has a lot on her mind and all those horrible ideas are not going anywhere. It’s a shame, vraiment. The day is gorgeous. I could have been out with Baba. But I don’t feel like it.
Tomorrow it the BIG DAY. Le grand jour when it will all happen. As I explained before, Baba has a congenital heart defect called a VSD. He needs surgery to repair his faulty organ. We have been to the hospital yesterday for the pre-op arrangements. It’s been an exhausting and tiring day.
I am already in such a state… And it was only the pre-arrangements before the big day! We haven’t been through anything yet. I am dreading tomorrow. I don’t know how I will cope and if I will be strong enough.
We went to St Thomas’ Hospital at 10am and didn’t leave before 5pm. It was full of emotions. I know my baby is in good hands and the best cardiologists are taking care of him. But it was so depressing to be there and to go through everything: scan, IRM, ECG, blood test…
During my hunt on Twitter for items to add to my Christmas Gift Guide list, the lovely people at Gotrovo contacted me asking if I would like to review their treasure hunt game.
Ever since I was a kid I have loved treasure hunts. you could always find me and my older sister out hunting for treasures as kids around the old rough mine areas where we lived. We used to find old bits of pottery, old coins and pieces of fool’s gold.
So you can imagine the big kid inside me getting all excited over the chance to review a treasure hunt game!
So What Is Gotrovo?
Gotrovo is a family treasure hunt game suitable for ages 3-8 years old and 1 or more players. The objective of the game is to follow a trail of clues to reach the treasure at the end. You collect gold coins as you go.
I have always been a bit of a Science nerd, well more than a bit! I did my A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. So I am constantly always on the look out for Sciencey articles to read, and now since I have baby girl, its activities I can do with her when she’s older.
A while back I wrote a review on the Little Passports kit that we got to try out, and they actually have their own blog extending on the Little Passports kits that they offer.
Little Passports aim to inspire and educate children about the world through their subscription service and lots of fun stuff to do on their own blog. This month they have been doing the 30 days of Science challenge.
The 30 Days of Science continues on the Little Passports blog with many show-stopping experiments, here are few to get you started.
So grab your kids and start exploring science!
As you all know I’m a huge reader and love all kinds of books. As much as I love blogging I also love to find a few minutes to pick up a book and relax. The most recent book I’ve been reading is Dance With The Dead by James Nally. Suggested by one of my blogger friends Bridie by the Sea.
One of my most favourite genres is crime/thrillers. I always go back to them if I’ve been reading a light fluffy book or reading the same nursery rhyme book for the umpteenth time with baby girl.
Now we are creeping towards Autumn and Winter I find myself reading many more books. Well I used to before baby girl came along. I wonder if I will have the time this year? Probably not. But so long as I can squeeze a book every couple of weeks in I’ll be happy.
Anyway enough of my waffling. So what are my first thought’s on Dance With The Dead?
We love bathtime in our house. So when Bathing Bunnies asked us if we would like to review one of their baby bath towel gift sets we jumped at the chance. Even better is that they have given us a set to give away to one of you, but more about that later on.
Baby girl loves giraffe’s so that was the obvious gift set for us to choose for her. But Bathing Bunnies have a wide range of other animals that are all so very cute. As an extra they do offer personalisation for the hooded towels as well.
The beauty of Europe will never cease to amaze many. It will always be in the long list of preferred traveling destinations in the world. This magical place offers a lot of attractions which makes it difficult to narrow the choices for that family tour you have been planning to do. So, to make things easier, we are suggesting a few of the most beautiful islands you might consider visiting.
