New Mum Stories: What if it’s Not?

Welcome back to another installment of New Mum Stories. This week’s story is from a lovely lady called Helen. Helen contacted me asking if she could write a piece for my blog sharing her story with you all. Her new mum story is rather different from most due to her daughter having additional needs from complications as a newborn.

Over to you Helen

I have to lay my cards on the table from the outset:  I’m a pessimist.  I always have been.   A  glass half empty kind of girl.  However, when I was approaching motherhood I was torn  between my natural instinct to expect the negative and the regular daydreams of cradling  and singing to a fuzzy headed newborn, walking hand in hand with a cherub faced toddler  with ice cream running down their chubby fingers or hearing about the exploits of the school  day with a little one talking at 100mph.

What if it's not?

September Review and October Bucket List

Well didn’t September disappear very fast? One minute it was lovely and warm days, then somewhere a switch was flicked and Autumn arrived with a bang. Colder days and nights, heavy rain that flooded quite a few local areas.

Now it’s time again for my monthly roundup and bucket list post. Here is last months post.

7 Hints and Tips for Lunchbox Ideas with Flora

We have been invited to take part in the Flora Lunchbox Challenge, which aims to give parents healthier and nutritious lunchbox ideas for their children.

Flora commissioned a study recently with Leeds University to discover what children were actually given in their lunchboxes. They found that children were being sent to school with pasties, wotsits, a chocolate bar and sugary squash.

I have nothing against pasties in kids lunch boxes being from Cornwall, I actually used to enjoy a pasty in mine as a kid! But it needs to be complimented with healthier snacks – not wotsits or chocolate!

The Book of Everyone: The Perfect Gift Review & Giveaway

I have mentioned to my husband not to read today’s post as it contains a Christmas Gift for him. He can be difficult to buy a gift for, so when the lovely people at The Book of Everyone let me review one of their books it gave me a sigh of relief. That’s one gift sorted for him because it really is a gift for everyone!

Perfect for those hard to buy for people.

Oh and I can give one away to one of my fabulous readers as well. But more about that later on in the post.

Review

I popped over to The Book of Everyone to have a look around and see what The Book of Everyone is all about. My first thoughts were wow! It involves so much more than just putting in the name of the books recipient.

What can parents do to unwind around the home?

Ever since I became a parent, I appreciate the odd spare moment I get to unwind around the home. Those moments are precious I can tell you! To relax and unwind I love to read. I can read anywhere. The bedroom , living room, bathroom and garden. Even the kitchen if I’m reading a magazine. Ultimately it’s the living room on the comfy sofa with a hot chocolate at this time of year.

In the Summer I find a shady spot in the garden or under the parasol to do my reading. Rattan Direct have some lovely garden furniture to unwind in the garden. Next Year when we move house I want to treat us to new garden furniture.

Reading in the garden - unwind, relaxing

My Sunday Photo 25/09/2016 – Ready to go out!

Happy Sunday!

Earlier in the week we were getting dressed ready to go out and I happened to catch this shot of baby girl staring at the washing machine while in her red racing car walker. Now Autumn is here we have brought out the woolly bunny ears hat!
