Blog Tour: Walking Wounded by Anna Frankin Osborne

Today it’s my turn to host the blog tour for Walking Wounded by Anna Franklin Osborne. I have an extract for you to read and a competition to enter so you have the chance to win your very own signed copy of this fantastic novel.

Here is a little bit about Walking Wounded to give you an idea of the story before you head on down and read the extract.

Book Description

Born at the end of the First World War, a young girl struggles to find her own identity in her big family and is pushed into a stormy marriage through a terrible misunderstanding from which her pride refuses to let her back down. As her own personal world begins to crumble, the foundation of the world around her is shaken as Germany once again declares war and her brothers and young husband sign up with the first wave of volunteers.

Walking Wounded tells the story of those left behind in a Blitz-ravaged London, and of the web of loyalty, guilt and duty that shapes the decisions of the women awaiting the return of their men-folk as the war draws to a close.

Spanning the period from the Armistice of the First World War to the exodus of the Ten Pound Poms to Australia in the 1950s, Walking Wounded is a family saga whose internal violence is mirrored by the world stage upon which it is set.

How To Save Money on Karen Millen Using Voucher Codes

As you all know I’m a huge fan of saving money online. Each time I want to buy something, whether it’s a birthday gift, something for baby girl, something for the house and garden or even clothes for myself, I check out my favourite voucher code sites. We made huge savings on a car seat for baby girl last year at Halfords using My Favourite Voucher Codes.

Now I’m on the look out for something special to wear for a couple of weddings coming up in the Spring. I’ve noticed Karen Millen has a wonderful selection of clothes for wedding guests, but of course they are slightly on the expensive side. Well you do pay for quality and the name I suppose. So because I have chosen Karen Millen as my retailer of choice, I want something that is timeless, where it can be worn in various other situations not just for weddings. I want to get my money’s worth out of it.

Looking After Your Sexual Health After Becoming a Mum

When we started trying for a baby back in 2013, I came off the pill when my packet ran out. I started taking the pill many years ago to help with period pains and heavy flow (sorry for the tmi!). I was very happy with my type of pill – Microgynon, it really worked well. This pill was one of those combined pills so contained oestrogen and progestogen, I was always great at remembering to take it each day as well.

Tips for Eco-Living and Recycling at Home

I’m always on the look out for tips on recycling at home. We have the normal bags and boxes for sorting out the household waste, but I’ve always wanted to go one step further. I suppose you could say that we do have our eco-living ways.

I think it boils down to growing up in a house with not a lot of money. My dad is a mastermind of inventions. He will find a use for anything and everything. It was great fun growing up watching him at work with his ideas. He used everybit of spare wood or metal he could find. Making gates, chicken houses, building sheds… the list is endless!

My mum loves to browse charity shops. She always used to find hidden gems for us as kids. Hardly worn clothes, bags and books, toys. They really did make every penny count. Nowadays as people struggle to keep their heads above water, these eco-living ways are hugely popular. I’m a frugal person who saves everything. I have this thing that I know it could come in useful one day, or as my husband calls it hoarding!

Is Your Garden Child Safe?

When we become a parent, we want to spend as much time with our children as possible. We want their younger years to be filled with joy, happiness and fun, and as a result of this we try our best to keep them entertained and content through a range of different activities. As they get older, their needs will change which will mean we will not necessarily have to take as much time to think about what we should do with them, and where we should take them for fun days out. When a child is young, they can be content by simply playing with their toys, reading books, colouring or painting. But, as their age progresses they will be happy in their room, playing games, using the internet or catching up with school work.

Is your Garden Child Safe? Here are some hints and tips to help you keep your garden hazard free.
