A few months back I wrote about the key fashion trends for women for Summer 2018 and how it was all about 80’s style neon, colour pop and frizzy hair. Well I never got the chance to go into the top fashion accessories that you will need this Summer. We all like to keep up with the trend, even if it’s just with accessories.
Accessories for your Summer look, does come in the form of the bumbag this year, yep the 80’s are here! I must admit as a kid I loved my bumbag. I carried all sorts of things in it. The less obvious would be a belt bag. You can get some really lovely leather ones which would smarten up any outfit. If you are heading to the beach lots over the course of the Summer you will need a gorgeous woven leather bag or a tote bag. The oversize large bags are perfect for this and one of the top key trends for Summer 2018.
Welcome back to our little weekly round-up of Living Arrows 25/53 (2018). I’m enjoying getting into the routine of sharing a little bit of our life and how my gorgeous 2 year old is growing away so fast along with the new baby!
You can catch up on my last post here: Living Arrows 24/53.
The idea behind Living Arrows is to celebrate childhood. It’s name is taken from a poem by Kahlil Gibran,
“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”
Today on the blog I have a post from Jackie over at Reusable Menstrual Cups, sharing with us the new on the market eco-friendly feminine hygiene products. As you know I had a baby 9 weeks ago so haven’t had to think about sanitary towels or things for a long time. As my body is settling down now I’m sure my period will be here within a few months (At least by breastfeeding it stalls it for a time!)
Beyond Sanitary Pads and Tampons
20 years ago, there were very few choices for period products. They mostly consisted of pads and tampons. Sure, a few people were using eco-friendly things like sea sponge tampons, or the original, modern-day menstrual cup (the Keeper), or sewing their own cloth pads, but they were the exceptions.
These days, menstrual cups are far more popular and there are an abundance of choices for things like cloth pads and organic disposables. I’ll share a few of the new things happening in the world of eco-friendly feminine products including more choices for menstrual cups, a reusable option for period sex, premium cloth pads, and organic disposables.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Grease being released in the cinemas. The classic musical film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John was first released in 1978. 5 years before I was born. My mum loves the film so my sisters and I were brought up on it singing and dancing around the house. Acting out scenes and having great fun.
I love the 1950’s vibe that surrounds Grease. The bad boy meets the good girl and they fall in love during the Summer. We all know the story of Grease, Im sure many of us have seen it hundreds of times. It’s a part of growing up. The
Which Pink Lady did you want to be? or T-Bird? I adored Frenchie, but wanted to be strong, fierce Rizzo.
As you know I love to potter in the garden. Growing flowers, fruit and veg, but I’ve never tried growing anything in the kitchen. There are flowers and cacti on my window sills but have never thought about actually growing food inside.
The Grofresh Kitchen Garden lets you do just that. Grow your own food in the kitchen. By the way there is no soil or mess involved! It’s a really clean way to grow your own. May that be from seed or plant plugs.
We were sent a Grofresh Kitchen Garden to try out and to share our thoughts on it. Before I tell you about how we set ours up, here is a little about the Grofresh.
The Grofresh kitchen garden is fully automated, so you don’t have to worry about over-watering, under-watering, overfeeding or underfeeding. It will keep the growing environment at its optimum without the need for constant attention so if you have a busy life then you can still grow your own plants. All you must do is keep the system topped up with water, and it even tells you when to do that with a little light system.
Check out our book this week for #BookReviewMondays
Our latest book we have been reading is called Max, Mouse and the Doll’s House by Christine Johnson. Now I’m reading to two of them. Baby dottie is more alert now as she’s growing at nearly 9 weeks old, and baby girl is taking lots of interest in books now. I often see her sitting down with a book, chatting away to herself and pointing at the pictures.
Before you get to our review, here is a little bit about Max, Mouse and the Doll’s House….
