Happy 3rd Blogiversary – Giveaway Day 2

Welcome back to Day 2 of my 3rd blogiversary giveaways. You can catch up with the Day 1 giveaway here.

The first year of blogging, I did it as a hobby. Writing about my favourite hobbies – books, gardening and entering competitions. When my daughter joined us, I turned my blog into another direction – family/parenting orientated. At the start of blogging I couldn’t think of a decent blog name so chose my own name Rachel Bustin. Now I’m so glad I did because that name can grow with my blog into any direction and not just the “mummy blogger” route.

Blogging is not just a hobby for me or even a job, it’s a way of life. There is hardly a day goes by that I don’t write something. If I can’t get on my laptop I write posts on the app on my phone.

It’s amazing to find something in life that you know you were born to do. It may have taken me until I hit my 30’s to get there but I’m here at last!

For today’s giveaway I have this lovely makeup brush set and blusher palette.

Ways To Save Money On Your Weekly Shop

Now I’m on maternity leave, this past week I have sat down thinking about ways to save money on your weekly shop. Maternity pay isn’t a great deal in fact it’s only £140.98 a week (as of March 2018) so when you are used to working full-time it’s a big drop in wages. In our household I mainly pay for groceries, this is an area I know we can save money on.

I have been thinking about tips on how we can slash our grocery bill each week and have come up with these top tips. I hope you find them useful to help you save money as well.

Top Tips to Slash Your Weekly Shopping Bill

  • Meal Plan – This is the most important one! Before you head out the door sit down with a cup of tea and plan ahead for the week. I’m now doing this on Fridays before we go shopping on Saturdays. I also keep a check of what I’ve got in the cupboards and freezer to see what I can use up for the coming week. I have the husbands birthday coming up this week and while hunting through the cupboard I found I had all the ingredients to make a fruit birthday cake for him except the eggs. When I was working full-time, running a household with a toddler around I never had the time do meal plan as such. Therefore I always bought extra I didn’t need.

How to Treat Your Tank in the Spring

After what’s turned out to be one of the worst winters in recent years, we’re all grateful for the signs of spring that we’re seeing. One of the best things about spring is not having to worry so much about how much heating oil we’re burning through, even though you found this website for cheap fuel. You can cross off yet another heating-related worry by checking over your tank and getting it and the rest of your system serviced after their busiest period.

You should quickly check over your tank once a week or so, ideally, to check for rust, bulges or leaks, but spring definitely warrants a more thorough inspection by you and an engineer.

Here’s what you can do once you spot a few daffodils out and about.

Clean the area immediately around your tank

If your tank is outside then it’ll gather weeds, leaves, mud and all sorts of other debris over the winter. The walkways and hard standing can become slippery, which will make life difficult for you and your engineer, so take a while to sweep, brush or jet-wash the remnants of winter away.

Happy 3rd Blogiversary – Giveaway Day 1

This week sees my 3rd blogiversary. I cannot believe I have been blogging for three years now. It’s like they say, time flies when you are having fun! I’ve grown my following to over 14k in that time. It may not seem a lot to many over three years but you have to bear in mind that I’ve been working full-time during that time and had a baby girl. It’s my achievement and I’m very proud of myself.

Happy 3rd Blogiversary

In the past year, I have worked really hard and grown my little blog business to earn my family a part-time wage. It has helped us to save money for things for the new house we moved into last June. It has given us many opportunities to try new things we couldn’t afford if I didn’t blog. Plus we have a little holiday coming up in September to review for the blog. It’s somewhere we wouldn’t have thought to go if I wasn’t blogging!

I’m looking forward to what the next year brings us!

Thanks for popping by and reading, I love to read all your comments. It brightens up my day.

Toy Shopping Haul from PoundToy

I love shopping haul challenges. When I was given the chance to head over to the PoundToy website with a £50 voucher to spend on their website I was eager to see what I could get for my money. I know the website is called PoundToy, but don’t let this confuse you. Of course some toys are £1 and even less, but most are over £1. The prices are still rock bottom though, and very competitive with high street and other online toy stores.

Plus most of the items are branded toys. If you are looking for birthday and Christmas gifts and are on a budget, this website is for you. They also have a great party supplies section – everyone in one place!
