Hello, welcome back to this week’s New Mum Stories. I am delighted to share with you Cherry from over at The Newby Tribe ‘s New Mum Story. This is a wonderful story with a difference.
Over To You Cherry…
My story of being a new mum is a little different from most. Some of it is the same – we experienced the same anxieties, the same sleepless nights wondering what life would be like when it was no longer the two of us, the same mad shopping sprees to make sure that the bedroom was sorted and we read hundreds upon hundreds of books and articles all of which, I have since decided, are put out to make you feel more worried than ever before about this huge undertaking you are embarking on! The difference is, when I became a new mum, I skipped the birth, the feeding, the weaning, the potty training, the napping, the learning to walk and learning to talk stages and headed straight for the terrible threes and school runs!
Oh yes it’s that time of year again – Halloween! It comes a close second to my favourite time of year, Christmas. The best thing about Halloween is the dark Autumn evenings that have arrived, making it perfect for cuddling up on the sofa with lots of scary movies.
I have always been a huge horror fan since I was about 13. I used to read Stephen King books in English reading time at school. My favourite Halloween reading book as always been The Shining by Stephen King. I do have to say that the movie starring Jack Nicholson is right there at the top to watch this Halloween for that scare!
I’m an old school horror fan. Some of the new ones out just don’t have the scare factor like the original Nightmare on Elm Street and The Exorcist.
For the fashion concious lady we have these fabulous collars from The Shirt Company. I think they are fun and great for dressing up a going out or the smart business outfit. This is the Viola.
This collar is not quite as formal as the Viola. It’s known as the Peony. Very pretty in black. The Shirt Company really has lots of pretty shirts and tops available on their online shop.
Why not take a look and treat someone this Christmas?
I love all types of curds. On toast, great for using in cakes oh and my favourite – on scones with Cornish clotted cream. Yum! This passionfruit and lemon curd is amazing from Scarlett & Mustard. Fresh and zingy. A great little gift. Why not add their blackcurrent & Star Anise, Lime & Mint and Toffee Apple curds to a little gift basket?
A couple of weeks back I reviewed The Book of Everyone. These books really do make great personalised gifts. This one is for my husband for Christmas, but I’ve gone and ordered one for my sister as well.
I love the way they take you on a journey back in time. You can learn about the day you were born, What was the number one single, amongst other facts.
A great gift for that person you never know what to buy for them.
Just because Autumn is here and it’s colder out, doesn’t mean you can’t still get out and spend time in the garden.

Even though your garden might not see much action until Spring, it might be a good idea to upgrade it now. A lot of garden supplies and equipment go on discount during months with less demand for them. If you’re thinking of taking on a project for garden improvement, why not turn it into a hangout spot?
The best way to get the most out of your garden space is to make it a place for get-togethers and parties. You can invite friends around or spend some quality time there with family. You might even want to relax there by yourself. Here are some tips for turning your garden into a hangout spot.
With so many elements that go into planning a wedding, it’s no wonder that certain things are overlooked. With so much to think about it’s easy for certain aspects to go completely out of your head! If you’re in the process of planning your wedding, don’t forget these important things.
You’ll have probably given thought to your wedding invitations, but how about all of the other pieces of wedding stationery you might need? Personalised save the date cards, wedding and reception programs, even hen party invitations. You won’t need every type of wedding stationery that’s out there, but be sure to look into this in plenty of time. It gives you a chance to finalise your design and make sure everything goes out in plenty of time.
When I was younger I remember my older sister getting a lava lamp for Christmas. It was the most wonderful thing ever. I used to stare at it for ages watching the molten wax rising up and falling down. Over the years I haven’t really thought about getting a lava lamp myself, although I would love one!
When the lovely people at Mathmos contacted me about the release of their new lava lamp called the Neo, I thought fantastic! My chance to finally have my own lava lamp, and to really explore how they work. Lava lamps are a beautiful work of science.
