The 40th anniversary of Grease the movie

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Grease being released in the cinemas. The classic musical film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John was first released in 1978. 5 years before I was born. My mum loves the film so my sisters and I were brought up on it singing and dancing around the house. Acting out scenes and having great fun.

The 40th anniversary of Grease

I love the 1950’s vibe that surrounds Grease. The bad boy meets the good girl and they fall in love during the Summer. We all know the story of Grease, Im sure many of us have seen it hundreds of times. It’s a part of growing up. The

Which Pink Lady did you want to be? or T-Bird? I adored Frenchie, but wanted to be strong, fierce Rizzo.

The Grofresh Kitchen Garden Review

As you know I love to potter in the garden. Growing flowers, fruit and veg, but I’ve never tried growing anything in the kitchen. There are flowers and cacti on my window sills but have never thought about actually growing food inside.

The Grofresh Kitchen Garden lets you do just that. Grow your own food in the kitchen. By the way there is no soil or mess involved! It’s a really clean way to grow your own. May that be from seed or plant plugs.

We were sent a Grofresh Kitchen Garden to try out and to share our thoughts on it. Before I tell you about how we set ours up, here is a little about the Grofresh.

The Grofresh kitchen garden is fully automated, so you don’t have to worry about over-watering, under-watering, overfeeding or underfeeding. It will keep the growing environment at its optimum without the need for constant attention so if you have a busy life then you can still grow your own plants. All you must do is keep the system topped up with water, and it even tells you when to do that with a little light system.

Max, Mouse and the Doll’s House Review and Giveaway

Check out our book this week for #BookReviewMondays

Our latest book we have been reading is called Max, Mouse and the Doll’s House by Christine Johnson. Now I’m reading to two of them. Baby dottie is more alert now as she’s growing at nearly 9 weeks old, and baby girl is taking lots of interest in books now. I often see her sitting down with a book, chatting away to herself and pointing at the pictures.

Before you get to our review, here is a little bit about Max, Mouse and the Doll’s House….

Losing My Dad

Losing my Dad three days before my planned c section was hard. My dad’s passing wasn’t a sudden death. In fact I wish it was for his sake. Seeing someone die through cancer is heartbreaking.

My dads cancer journey started three years ago. I was pregnant with baby girl at the time when he started getting ill. Dad was a hardworking farmer all his life and never stopped for anything. He kept  chickens, geese, cattle and a goat right up until the very end when he left us at 88 years of age.

He came from a generation that would rarely visit the doctors. This older generation are tough as nails. We had to beg him to see a doctor 3 years ago when we knew he wasn’t right.

Merino Baby Snugs from The Baby Academy

I love knitted items for babies and children. My mum is a huge knitter and knitted everything for us when we were small. We always had a new knitted jumper on, in fact she knitted all our school jumpers. This was back in the 80’s when school blazers were not a thing at small country schools. Mum made the raffle prizes for school. They were knitted dolls and animals stuffed with rags and were amazing. She’s a very talented knitter. Although she doesn’t do quite as much nowadays.

Vickie from The Baby Academy down here in Cornwall got in touch with us asking me if we would like one of the Merino Baby Snugs for baby dottie to try. These gorgeous snugs are all hand knitted and designed by local people.
