I remember heading back to work after maternity leave the first time around and not knowing what my rights were as a working parent. This time when I head back in 2019 I will be more clued up.
The end of maternity or paternity leave is a daunting enough time without the stress and uncertainty of worrying about your entitlements.
Working with Babythingz, a leading supplier of cosytoes and footmuffs, we are here to map out your rights as a parent heading back to the workplace. To make this transitional time as easy as possible.
Baby girl is now 26 months old. She is very switched on and has shown that she is nearly ready for toilet training. A few weeks back we reviewed the Step’n’ Potty from Bumbo, but she wasn’t quite ready for potty training then. When we saw the health visitor for her 2 year check up, she gave us some advice on potty training, but said to leave it for a couple of months due the change in her life of having a little sister next week. She said that with having a newborn in the house would be a big adjustment without having potty training as well in her life. So we will be back on the potty training in the Summer. Taking small steps as we go along.
For now though we have been reading this great little book called Little Budgie’s Done A Fudgie by Simon Harris. It’s all about a little bird taking his first steps out of a nappy onto the potty.
If your air conditioning has stopped working for whatever reason, don’t panic! Sometimes, the problem can be much smaller than how it appears on the surface. In some cases, you won’t even need a repairman to fix it. But how can you really tell?
Luckily, there are a bunch of simple ways to diagnose it, and we’re going to take a look at the most common ones today:
The air conditioner won’t start
The obvious one is to check whether the unit is plugged in (you know the drill). After that’s out of the way, you need to ask yourself whether the condenser is operational or not. Is the thermostat running?
Sometimes, all you need to do is set the thermostat to 5 degrees and that alone immediately solves the problem without needing to pick the unit apart or call the repairman. If that didn’t help, you could be dealing with a blown fuse, in which case, you’re going to need to contact Air conditioner repair Oshawa or one of the local service providers to fix it.
This past week I’ve been busy packing my hospital bag. You can catch up here with what I packed first time
Second time around I’ve learnt a few things. Don’t just pack sleepsuits for 0-3 months otherwise your baby will look like she’s wearing a sack! In fact last time I didn’t even buy new baby clothes they were all 0-3 months. She did grow into them though. I’ve invested in sleepsuits from Next which have the turn over cuffs for baby hands. Much better than having separate little scratch mitts which I kept losing.
Ramadan is fast approaching and that means that many of our friends, colleagues or family members will begin observing the Islamic holy month, which sees Muslims fasting during daylight hours. This year, Ramadan begins on or around Tuesday 15th May 2018 and comes to an end on or around Thursday 14th June 2018.
The fast begins at dawn and ends at sunset every day, during which time those practicing will abstain from food and drink amongst other acts. Muslims will eat breakfast in the early hours of the morning and enjoy a meal in the evening once the day has turned to night.
With the new baby arriving next week, I was excited to receive this adorable Disney Dumbo activity plush baby toy in the post. We don’t have a lot of baby toys for the new one yet, there are stacks of baby girls toys everywhere! So it was a pleasant opportunity to have a look at one of the new baby toys from Rainbow Designs. They have put together a brand new Disney range exclusively for Tesco that launched in store and online on the 11th April.
