Hello, welcome back to another installment of New Mum Stories. This week we hear from Jo, over at Pickle and Poppet. Jo shares with us how she felt when she became a New Mum and how her life changed.
Over to you Jo…
When you’re pregnant you spend your time imagining what things will be like as a new mum. You spend your days reading through the growth of your developing baby. Making decisions on the birth, feeding, the nursery, names. It’s all very exciting. You prepare and you get ready for your life to change.
I had everything ready.
The nursery was done, names were chosen, birth plan completed. I’m ready! Except I really wasn’t and I found out very quickly.
Baby girl has taken a great interest in books lately. I know some of the ones we read and review are a little too old for her, but she loves to turn the pages herself and look at the pictures. Our latest read and review is the Woodland Hedgehugs Activity Book which was kindly sent to us from Maverick arts publishing and Boolino. Every now and again Boolino send us fantastic books to read through and review. Our last review for them was Robin’s Winter Song.
I just want to say a huge thanks to Sarah over at Mum & Mor for nominating me in the #RockingMotherhood Tag. Also Pat from White Camellias for dreaming up this awesome tag.
The idea behind #RockingMotherhood is for you to write down 10 things on how you rock being a mum.
Not sure why but I’m finding it hard to complete. Maybe it’s because I’ve always been my own worst enemy when it comes to critiquing myself. Plus I’ve always had the attitude that you can always do better. I apply this to my blog also. I know I can do better, be a better blogger, be a better wife so naturally I can be a better mother as well.
Hello and welcome back to New Mum Stories. This week’s story is from Laura over at Autumn’s Mummy Blog. Laura shares with us her story of gorgeous little Autumn’s scary first few weeks for every mother.
Over to you Laura…
My new Mum story is a little dramatic and might be triggering for some, but it shows that it’s never too early to trust your instincts when it comes to your baby!
Autumn was born full-term in September 2016 after an uncomfortable but normal pregnancy, with scans that were fine and when she was born she had an Apgar score of 10/10. Everything was going so well, she was gaining weight and was doing everything she should be. On the morning she turned two weeks old, I remember sitting in bed breastfeeding her and looking down at her thinking just how lucky I was and that things almost seemed too good to be true.
That evening she projectile vomited after I fed her. “Ooh! You were too greedy!” I said to her, but I already felt like something was a little bit wrong. It was projectile, not like normal baby sick and she looked shocked afterwards. The same happened after the next feed and the next and the next after that. By then, it was morning and she was lethargic, so I rang the doctors. By the second time she’d been sick my Mummy alarm bells were ringing and I knew something was wrong!
Wow didn’t January disappear fast? February is an exciting month for us. First up is Baby girl’s first birthday and then our house is being put on the market. January for me was all about setting up my blogging goals for the year. You can pop over to here to have a little peek to see what goals I have set myself.
Here is another book review for you. I’m so glad I have made a few spare hours a week to have the time to get back into my reading. This past week I have been engrossed in Bourbon Creams and Tattered Dreams by Mary Gibson. Below is my review, blog tour banner (so you can see who else is on the tour!) and giveaway to win your very own copy!
Frank Rossi promised Matty the world. The Cockney Canary would become a world-famous movie star. As his wife, she would be one half of a power couple, feted and adored by all. But the Wall Street crash puts paid to that and as Frank becomes more violent and unstable, Matty knows she must escape and so she flees at dead of night.
Once home in Bermondsey, she goes into hiding and starts desperately looking for work. But only the hated biscuit factory, Peek Frean’s, is hiring. Then, as a secret from her past comes back to hurt her, Matty learns that Frank is on the move, determined to find her and get her back.
