As you know by now we love reading books in our house. Our latest read is Robin’s Winter Song by Suzanne Barton. A wonderful picture storybook for all young children.
It’s quite fitting at the moment due to the snow conditions around the country at the moment. Although down here in Cornwall it’s wet and mild today but snow is forecasted for tomorrow. To be honest it’s unlikely as snow is a rare sight for us. We did have it back in 2010 which was quite heavy at the time. I remember as we had to go and pick up the keys to our brand new house and had to park on top the hill and walk down to it as there was no way of getting down there or getting back up! So if it does snow this weekend we won’t be going anywhere!
It’s been a while since I did the last review of baby girl, in fact that was her 9 month review. Later on I will let you know how we got on at the health visitor.
But first we come a long way since she was 9 months old in terms of her development. The biggest thing I’m so excited to share with you that I have to blurt out first is that she took her first few steps unaided!!! In New Years Eve as well!!! A fantastic start to 2017!!!!
She had been building up to it for a few weeks. Cruising along the sofas gaining confidence all the time. I was sitting on the sofa opposite to my husband and she wanted to come over to me I could see it! So instead of holding on to everything to get to me she had her little arms out for balance and took those precious first 3 steps all by her self. We were so proud and so excited that both of us got to see her do it for the first time.
As each day goes past now she really is gaining her confidence and is finding herself that I know in no-time she will be running around.
So now I have a toddler!!
Since having baby girl I have found my love of kids books and The Giant and the Three Dwarves did not disappoint. We have quite a big collection of children’s books now, and I know as baby girl gets older she will love her collection as much as I do.
This is the story of three dwarves, Hop, Skip and Jump. Tired and hungry after a long journey, they knock at the door of a large, lonely house.
It belongs to a big hungry giant…..

Each one of us has a different meaning of what family means to us. A family can be defined in many ways. Is a ‘normal family” a married mother and father and their biological children living together under one roof?
Today a family is more likely to be defined as a specific group of people that may be made up of partners, children, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. There are many types of families and some include: Nuclear family, Adopted family, Step family, Foster family, Traditional family and Complex family.
Here is what family means to me
Family means a lot to me. Growing up in a family of 6 was so much fun. My siblings and I used to have so much fun as kids. We grew up on a small holding so it was the outdoors life for us. The good ole days they were. We never had a lot of money but we had each other. We used to make up our own games and keep ourselves occupied for hours. We sometimes fought like cat and dog but always made up.
Now we are older we have gone our own separate ways. My older sister lives in Vancouver, but we are still just as close. Technology nowadays makes it so much easier to keep in contact. My siblings are a huge part of my family and I couldn’t do without them.
A family can be anyone you choose it to be.
Wise words indeed. The nuclear family is not like the TV show 2.4 Children from the 90’s anymore!
There are lots of reasons why you should allow your toddler to spend time in the garden. For one thing, the fresh air can be good for them. The open space allows them to run around and play without restriction. Also, you don’t have to worry about spills and marks when they are playing around in the garden. To make the garden extra fun for your child, here are some things that you can add that your toddler will love. Just be careful to ensure they are safe, and you keep an eye on your child while they are doing the below!
