The Neo Lava Lamp Review and Giveaway

When I was younger I remember my older sister getting a lava lamp for Christmas. It was the most wonderful thing ever. I used to stare at it for ages watching the molten wax rising up and falling down. Over the years I haven’t really thought about getting a lava lamp myself, although I would love one!

When the lovely people at Mathmos contacted me about the release of their new lava lamp called the Neo, I thought fantastic! My chance to finally have my own lava lamp, and to really explore how they work. Lava lamps are a beautiful work of science.

Hello and welcome back to nother installment of New Mum Stories. This week I’m honoured to present Angela from The Inspiration Edit. Angela shares with us her story of being a single mum.

The Inspiration Edit

Over To You Angela…

My New Mum Story

I always wanted to be a mother, It’s been a dream of mine for a long time and when I finally fell pregnant through fertility treatment  in 2008 I was super excited. After my daughter Sylvia was born I just fell in love with her straight away, her little tiny body, her feet and hands, her button nose and her baby smell.

I remember giving Sylvia her first bath at the hospital and putting almond oil on her skin. I did it because I was told I should. I was told what I should be doing a lot and really had no idea so I just did my best to care for this little human the best I could.

This is My Back to Work Routine

We are now three weeks into our new routine. Going back to work after 10 months off was hard. I’m currently working 3 days a week until December when I move back to the full 5 days a week. So not looking forward to that. I think 3 days is the perfect balance for us.

That first Monday was hard. It broke my heart to leave her. I knew she would be fine with my parents though. When I went to pick her up at 4pm her little arms and legs were going and she practically jumped into my arms. She cuddles into me laughing and smiling away. It was an emotional moment.

The second day was much better. Baby girl is loving being spoilt by my dad – her papa. He makes her laugh and giggle all the time. This second week is now easier. We are into a good routine now. Getting up at 5:15am is hard but we all go to bed early.

Wilf Books Sharing Box Subscription Review

A couple of months back the lovely people over at Wilf Books were just starting up their children’s books sharing box scheme and asked if they could guest post on my blog. I think it’s a great thing that they are doing so I accepted. You can read that post over here: How can we help our children learn about sharing?

So Wilf Books is run by Callum and Amelia who believe in the value of sharing. Their aim is to recycle and redistribute children’s books to those that will love them the most.

Now the subscription box business is up and running, they have kindly let me review a box with baby girl. What I loved about opening the box was the carefully hand painted postcard made out to baby girl. It really gave it a personal touch and I honestly now believe that Callum and Amelia are putting their heart and soul into this. To make it a success. I wish them tons of luck.

The books were carefully packed in tissue paper and hand tied with string.

The London Guide: With And Without The Kids

Heading into London can be a wonderful break for you and the kids. After all, there is so much to do in the capital. London can also be the ideal destination for a romantic weekend away while the kids are with the Grandparents! We’ve put together an awesome guide to the best city in the world for couples and kids. Choose your own adventure!

With The Kids

There are so many awesome things for the kids to do and see in London. One of the most popular attractions continues to be the waxworks at Madame Tussaud’s. The models on show are regularly updated to feature the most current versions of the most popular celebrities. This means you are pretty much guaranteed to find characters your kids know and love. Just a few doors down are some great family restaurants. Many are themed. You might want to eat in the jungle, complete with lifesize models and sound effects. Or maybe one of the sports-themed restaurants is more your thing?

For a good view, try the London Eye. This all-weather ride lifts you up above the Thames opposite the Houses of Parliament. On a clear day, you can see pretty far. The famous BT Tower is visible and so is St. Paul’s Cathedral. And how often do you get to look down on the Westminster Palace? It’s not the cheapest attraction but its location is handy for art galleries and centres of culture along South Bank.

Bird Feeder Gift Box Review & Giveaway

Growing up around animals on a small holding gave me such a love for nature and all widlife. This time of year as Autumn is here and Winter is creeping upon us give a thought for the birds in your garden. It’s cold and food is getting harder to find, so why not set up a bird feeder in your garden?

Boxwild bird feeder gift box review and giveaway
It can be  fun activity as well for getting your kids interested in activities in the garden. I remember when I was little mum used to have a cute little pair of robins that lived in the trees in the garden. We used to leave out seeds and fat balls. I loved hearing them singing away.

So when the lovely people at Boxwild contacted me asking if I would love to review one of their gift boxes that they do. I thought it would be a great idea to start attracting more birds to our garden this Winter.

We got sent the Bird Feeder Gift Box to have a look at. They also do the fatty box and various bird seed subscription packages and wildlife subscription boxes.
