Word of the Week 18/03/2016

Well this week has been a very busy one! It’s been fantastic to have my husband at home for the week to help me with baby girl. He’s been such a great help at night getting out to change her, little things like that mean the world to me at the moment as I am so tired! I don’t expect him to do it when he’s back to work.
Word of the Week - Busy

On Monday it was my husbands birthday – his first as a daddy! I thoroughly enjoyed picking a card for him from baby girl! So we went to our local Brewers Fayre for lunch. It was the first time since we had baby girl that we have been out for lunch so I was feeling anxious as I’m exclusively breastfeeding and kept thinking what if she wants a feed? Well that is exactly what she wanted while we were out! They had a baby changing room there that was also the disabled toilet. I thought well that’s OK, so I changed baby girl and began to feed her.
Next thing I knew there was someone banging on the door and lifting the handle trying to get in! I said sorry there is someone in here, well I ended up with the most rudest reply! Basically saying that there is people out here needing the toilet and to hurry up! I got really upset and went back to where my husband was sitting and said I’m going to have to go to the car to finish feeding her as there was rude people knocking at the door. I was really upset and not a very pleasant experience for the first time out with her.
The rest of the week has been great! Since baby girl was born nearly 6 weeks ago I haven’t really left the house much, especially as I haven’t been able to drive so have been making the most of my husband being at home to not only get out everyday but to also catch up on a few jobs around the house and garden. This week was the first week I have been properly out in the garden since October when I nearly slipped down so haven’t risked it since then. The patio has been cleaned and I have started on making up my tubs and doing a bit of weeding.
So my week has been a really busy one.
How has your week been?

My 1st Blogiversary and a Giveaway!

As you know I have been very busy as a new mummy and totally forgot about my little blog turning 1 year old! I would have missed it completely if it wasn’t for a Facebook memory showing up in my time line! Thanks Facebook!
So as it’s my first Blogiversary I want to host a little giveaway as appreciation to my readers. I have 4 completely different books and a box of chocolates for you to win. In my eyes books and chocolates is a win win situation, as I’m sure you will all agree.
1st Blogiversary

Looking back over my first year of blogging I feel as if I have come a long way. When I started I didn’t have a clue what coding was (I’m still trying to learn more about that one!), meta tags, search descriptions, SEO. It was like learning a new language. I have never really been totally computer savvy, so it’s been a real learning curve.
I think of my blog as an online diary, writing inserts of my life. What books I am reading, what one word sums up my week with Word of the Week, the photos I love to take with #MySundayPhoto, what I win with the competitions I enter and also what recipes and gardening stuff I get up to.
It’s been a hard year with working full time, spending time on my blog and then finding out I was pregnant, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Here’s to the next year blogging through my new journey – motherhood!
So now onto the giveaway – the books to win are shown in the photo below. They are Atonement by Ian McEwan, a Jeremy Clarkson book, Campari for Breakfast by Sara Crowe, and the strange little book – A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian by Marina Lewycka. Also not forgetting the small box of Cadbury’s Milk Tray!

I have had a fascination with coloured glass windows for as long as I can remember as a kid. There is something so peaceful about them and they brighten up dull buildings. This one is in a listed building that has been turned into a dental practice.

I think my curiosity came from Sundays going to the local chapel and Sunday School when I was a child and seeing all the beautiful stained glass windows.

Word of the Week 11/03/2016

Its been a few weeks since I have joined in with Word of the Week, because I have been a very busy mummy, with the arrival at last of baby girl. She was 14 days late in the end, so kept us waiting a long time! You can read how she arrived in My Birth Story.

Its funny because while waiting for her to arrive the time went very slow, now here I am 5 weeks later and time is flying by. Baby girl is changing every day. I’m surviving on very little sleep! I now know how to change a nappy really quickly, and nappies and wipes seem to be first on the shopping list before anything else!

Becoming a mum to a very special baby is an amazing experience that my husband and I have waited for nearly 3 years. We enjoy every moment with her.
Therefore my Word of the Week is Baby

Thanks to The Reading Residence for hosting this weeks #WotW

Today is my first Mother’s Day. It was so lovely to wake up and see my happy smiling baby girl, it makes the lack of sleep so worth while!

Looking back over February 2016- My Birth Story

I cannot believe March is here already. A lot has gone on in my life in the past few weeks so I haven’t really done any serious comping since the end of January. The big thing in my life was the arrival of my gorgeous baby girl on the 8th February. So these past few weeks I have been enjoying every precious moment with her.
I only now feel ready to get back to some kind of normality. My birth experience was everything I didn’t want it to be. As you all know from my end of January posts that baby girl was keeping us waiting – in fact she ended up being 14 days late by the time she arrived!
