You know sometimes you just need to read a light hearted book to bring a smile to your face. Well Laura Lake and the Hipster Weddings by Wendy Holden is just that. Witty, fun and down right full of entertainment!
I was lucky enough to be sent a beautiful hardback copy to read and review from Head of Zeus, plus you have the chance to win your very own copy as well. First though, here is a little bit about Laura Lake and the Hipster Weddings.
She’ll need a triple-barrelled name for the castle one. She’ll need a gallon of glitter for the woodland one. She’ll need a lobster-shaped hat for the Shoreditch one.
Laura Lake longs to be a journalist. Instead she’s an unpaid intern at a glossy magazine – sleeping in the fashion cupboard and living on canapés. But she’s just got her first big break: infiltrate three society weddings and write a juicy exposé.
Security will be tighter than a bodycon dress, but how hard can it be? Cue disappearing brides, demanding socialites – and a jealous office enemy who will do anything to bring her down…
Here is another book review for you. I’m so glad I have made a few spare hours a week to have the time to get back into my reading. This past week I have been engrossed in Bourbon Creams and Tattered Dreams by Mary Gibson. Below is my review, blog tour banner (so you can see who else is on the tour!) and giveaway to win your very own copy!
Frank Rossi promised Matty the world. The Cockney Canary would become a world-famous movie star. As his wife, she would be one half of a power couple, feted and adored by all. But the Wall Street crash puts paid to that and as Frank becomes more violent and unstable, Matty knows she must escape and so she flees at dead of night.
Once home in Bermondsey, she goes into hiding and starts desperately looking for work. But only the hated biscuit factory, Peek Frean’s, is hiring. Then, as a secret from her past comes back to hurt her, Matty learns that Frank is on the move, determined to find her and get her back.
Since having baby girl I have found my love of kids books and The Giant and the Three Dwarves did not disappoint. We have quite a big collection of children’s books now, and I know as baby girl gets older she will love her collection as much as I do.
This is the story of three dwarves, Hop, Skip and Jump. Tired and hungry after a long journey, they knock at the door of a large, lonely house.
It belongs to a big hungry giant…..
Now we are at the beginning of a new year, it’s time to revamp your New Year’s Comping Resolutions.
What are your Comping aims for the year?
Is there a specific competition or prize you would like to win? That dream holiday? Vouchers for next Christmas? or even that little diary that is just darn cute!
We all have a desire to win. My aim is to win my husband an iPad. It was the same goal last year, so I’m more determined this year to win one for him!
Why not share your competition goals for the year on Twitter with me?
Tag me @RachelBustin and use #competitiongoals I would love to read them!
I have though very hard over the Christmas period about starting up a new community on social media. One where we can all share our competition acheivements. We all know how hard it is to win nowadays.
Hard work, determination and belief all goes into entering competitions. So I’m starting up a competition winners community on Instagram and Twitter where we can all share our competition wins with everyone and give each other a boost when at times we struggle to find motivation to continue.
I feel so lucky to be able to review the new Stick to Stigu planner. Earlier on in the year I was grateful to review the 2016 version. Now here is the bright shiny new 2017 version. I’m a HUGE fan of Stick to Stigu. I just had to get that in before I follow with my review!
I have used my 2016 planner every day. Planning out not only blog stuff but I also use it for my personal life as well. It’s fantastic to add all of baby girl’s appointments in as well as my own.
At the weekends I love to sit down and plan out my week ahead. Seeing my week on one page makes it so much more manageable.
The planner is full of ideas, inspiration, things to do and tips to make your life more relaxed. At the beginning there is a page to write down your goals for 2017. This is fabulous for looking back over from time to time throughout the year reminding yourself of the goals you have set.
