Book Review & Giveaway: Laura Lake and the Hipster Weddings

You know sometimes you just need to read a light hearted book to bring a smile to your face. Well Laura Lake and the Hipster Weddings by Wendy Holden is just that. Witty, fun and down right full of entertainment!

I was lucky enough to be sent a beautiful hardback copy to read and review from Head of Zeus, plus you have the chance to win your very own copy as well. First though, here is a little bit about Laura Lake and the Hipster Weddings.

Laura Lake and the Hipster Weddings by Wendy Holden

Book Description

She’ll need a triple-barrelled name for the castle one. She’ll need a gallon of glitter for the woodland one. She’ll need a lobster-shaped hat for the Shoreditch one.

Laura Lake longs to be a journalist. Instead she’s an unpaid intern at a glossy magazine – sleeping in the fashion cupboard and living on canapés. But she’s just got her first big break: infiltrate three society weddings and write a juicy exposé.

Security will be tighter than a bodycon dress, but how hard can it be? Cue disappearing brides, demanding socialites – and a jealous office enemy who will do anything to bring her down…

My Review

The one thing that strikes me from the start is the character of Laura Lake. She is like no other character I’ve ever discovered, plus I believe she is very different to Wendy Holden’s other characters in her other books. Laura is a go-getter, a resourceful, loveable heroine that that you help but adore. She dreams of making it big and nothing will get in her way of becoming a journalist. Not even old school enemies!

Laura gets her first big break – write a juicy expose on three society weddings. To do this though she has to infiltrate behind the scenes at the three weddings. Security will be tough, but can she do it?

You will just have to read it to find out!

I love Wendy Holden’s writing style, character names and her general brilliance for this new series. It’s a fun and easy read and I just couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to see what’s next instore for Laura.

Laura Lake and the Hipster Weddings by Wendy Holden deserves a 5 out of 5 stars from me.
